Alexander 'AJ' Jennings was confirmed dead by the Charleston County Coroner on July 5
The cast and crew of the Netflix hit series ‘Outer Banks’ have been left completely shattered after hearing the news of Alexander Jennings’ tragic death. The 22-year-old actor, who was a stand-in for the show’s lead star Chase Stokes, was killed after he was struck by two cars in the early hours of Tuesday morning, July 5, in Charleston, South Carolina.
According to the press release shared by Charleston County, the deputies from the county office responded to an accident that took place at Sol Legare Road near Crovet Drive at about 2:30 am. The statement also shared the details of the accident and noted that a pedestrian was walking on the road and struck by a vehicle, which fled the scene. Shockingly, the pedestrian was hit by another vehicle which also fled the scene, a witness told deputies.
However, the second vehicle was later pulled over by Charleston Police at a traffic stop. The Charleston County Coroner confirmed that it was Jennings who lost his life in the accident.

Born in Tver, Russia, Alexander Jennings moved to the US when he was really young and lived in Atlanta, Georgia. However, he moved to New York while trying to get acting gigs and was currently working as a stand-in for the ‘Outer Banks’ lead star Chase Stokes. Apart from that, he also worked as a model and had a YouTube channel as well.
According to his official Instagram profile, he loved playing football and pictures seem to suggest that he has played the game in university or high school.
He loved singing and loved spending time with his loved ones.
The actor was in Charleston where the Netflix series has been shooting for its third season.
As soon as the tragic news surfaced online, fans mourned the death of the young actor and expressed disbelief at the accident that took place in Charleston. Apart from the fans, Chase Stokes also shared a statement on Jennings’ death and felt ‘shattered’ after hearing the tragic news. The star mourned the loss of Jennings by sharing a touching statement on Instagram. He revealed that they recently were having a conversation about AJ’s music and how “pumped” they were about the new tunes. Stokes called AJ “selfless” and a person who touched everyone’s heart.
“My heart is shattered. Your life was just starting. We JUST talked about how pumped you were about your tunes, how far you'd come with that ole 6-string, and your want to keep creating art. Always making others' hearts warm and being so damn selfless. I wish I had more words to say right now, but the past day has been a struggle, to say the least. We all love you, you touched all of our lives and made us all better people, and for that - Thank you AJ. Fly high angel,” he wrote on Wednesday.
As of now, no charges have been filed and the county’s Traffic Services Unit is still investigating the accident.
