LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Stories of vampires falling in love with humans are nothing new. 'Tooth Pari: When Love Bites', Netflix India's upcoming fantasy horror-comedy, promises to breathe new life into this overused concept. The story is anticipated to be full of romance, suspense and human and inhuman obstacles.
The Netflix series is produced by Endemol Shine India with Pratim D Gupta serving as the creator, writer and director. Gupta also serves as executive producer with Mrinalini Khanna, Vishal Mehra, Harish Shah and Rishi Negi. The producers of the movie are Gaurav Gokhale, Mitul Mody and Abhishek Rege. Who stars in 'Tooth Pari: When Love Bites'?
Shantanu Maheshwari as Roy
Shantanu Maheshwari is an actor, dancer, choreographer and host. He was a member of the Desi Hoppers dance crew, which won the 'World of Dance 2015 Championship' in Los Angeles and received high praise from judges Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo and Derek Hough, who admired their unique style and fusion of hip-hop and Indian culture. Maheshwari made his movie debut in 2022 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', in which he co-starred with actress Alia Bhatt. In 'Tooth Pari: When Love Bites,' Maheshwari plays Roy, a shy dentist who falls for a vampire.
Tanya Maniktala as Rumi
Tanya Maniktala, who rose to fame as Ishita in 2018's 'Flames,' gained international recognition with BBC One's adaptation of Vikram Seth's 'A Suitable Boy,' in which she played Lata Mehra. The actress gained widespread praise for her performance and will soon make her movie debut in 'Mumbaikar', alongside Vikrant Massey and Vijay Sethupathi. Maniktala plays Rumi in 'Tooth Pari: When Love Bites,' a bloodthirsty, beautiful and rebellious vampire who falls in love with a shy dentist.
Revathi as Luna Luka
Actress Revathi is well-known for her work in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada movies. In the movie, she plays Luna Luka, leader of a group fighting against vampires in 'Tooth Pari: When Love Bites'. Speaking about her part in the show, the actress told The News Minute, “A lot of thought has always gone behind any project that I have chosen, and Tooth Pari: When Love Bites is no exception. When I heard the script, I knew it was a genre I had never traversed into earlier. This was not a normal story but something new that our director, Pratim Dasgupta, had envisioned and plotted in the city of joy, Kolkata.”
Tillotama Shome as Meera
Tillotama Shome plays Meera in 'Tooth Pari: When Love Bites,' who is defined as a person who epitomizes the idea that "normies are boring." She is happy and content with her life in her world full of vampires eager to discover the human world. She seems to have no desire for human blood nor does she have any interest in getting to know any humans. Her outrageous attire and unconventional thoughts set her apart. She has interesting ways of "training" young vampires to start making their moves in the human world as a veteran. It will be extremely interesting to see Meera's reaction to Rumi falling in love with a human dentist.
Sikandar Kher as Sub Inspector Kartik
Sikandar Kher plays Sub Inspector Kartik in 'Tooth Pari: When Love Bites'. The actor has appeared in several projects, including 'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey', 'Players', 'Aurangzeb', 'Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive' and 'The Zoya Factor'. He had a pivotal role in the Indian crime drama series 'Aarya'. In 2017, Kher appeared in Netflix's 'Sense8'.
Saswata Chatterjee as David
In 'Tooth Pari: When Love Bites,' Saswata Chatterjee plays David. David and Meera are vampires with a history, and they're not afraid to tell their tales. His performances in many Bengali films have been praised, and he achieved national acclaim in Sujoy Ghosh's 2012 blockbuster Hindi film, 'Kahaani', in which he played an assassin, Bob Biswas.
Adil Hussain, Anindita Bose, Anjan Dutt, Kharaj Mukherjee, Rajatava Dutta, Swaroopa Ghosh, Zarina Wahab and Barun Chanda are among the show's other cast members. On April 20, 'Tooth Pari: When Love Bites' will be available on Netflix.
