CAPETOWN, SOUTH AFRICA: Coming soon to your screens is 'The Ultimatum: South Africa', a new spin-off of the popular social experiment show' The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On'. Set to premiere on May 10, this nine-part series will follow the journeys of six couples as they navigate tests of trust, love, desire, and honesty.

In a unique twist on traditional dating shows, one partner who is ready for marriage will issue an ultimatum to their hesitant partner, challenging them to make a decision about their future together. Get ready for drama, emotions, and tough choices on 'The Ultimatum: South Africa'!

Netflix revealed in 2022 that they were working on developing the show. Following this announcement, the streaming service unveiled the official release date for the highly anticipated series and treated fans to a sneak peek with a teaser that released in April 2024.

"Mzansi we’re coming to the world of Netflix Reality with The Ultimatum: South Africa, Hosted by Salamina and Howza Mosese, #TheUltimatumSouthAfrica drops on 10 May 2024!," the caption of the post read.

The hosts of the show, Salamina Mosese and Howza Mosese, are seen in the official trailer giving an introduction to the upcoming social experiment. Who stars in 'The Ultimatum: South Africa'?

For those who may not be familiar, Netflix's new reality TV show 'The Ultimatum: South Africa' features six couples participating in a social experiment. The couples include Thabi and Genesis, Khanya and Nkateko, Ruth and Isaac, Lebo and Nolla, Courtney and Aiden, and Sizakele and Lindile.Each couple is facing a unique challenge as they navigate their relationships and confront their partners with their ultimatums. 

Thabi and Genesis

After being in a relationship for 7 years, Thabi reached a breaking point and gave Genesis an ultimatum. In the trailer, Thabi confessed that after all this time, she could finally envision a future without Thabi by her side.

This realization marked a turning point in their relationship, forcing both partners to confront the possibility of a life apart.

In a private confessional, Genesis expressed feeling like he had reached his lowest point, causing him a great deal of pain. "I have literally hit the rock bottom. Hurts a lot," he said.

Thabi shared her fear that if Genesis chose to depart from the show with another contestant, it would shatter a significant part of her heart.

Khanya and Nkateko

After a year of being in a relationship, Khanya and Nkateko find themselves at a crossroads. Khanya has made it clear to Nkateko that she wants a commitment in the form of marriage. In a preview for the show, Khanya can be heard expressing her desire for loyalty, honesty, and consistency from her partner, stating, "I'm literally telling him, "Marry me now." I don't have time. I just want loyalty, honesty and consistency."

Ruth and Isaac 

Ruth and Isaac have been in a relationship for a solid two years now, and when it comes to discussing their love story, it was Ruth who took charge and gave her partner Isaac an ultimatum. Reflecting on their romance, Isaac expressed a mix of emotions, admitting that he is unsure of what the future holds and shared, "I'm feeling all types of emotions because I don't know what to expect."

Lebo and Nolla

Lebo and Nolla have been in a committed relationship for a year and a half, and it was Lebo who presented an ultimatum to Nolla. In a snippet from the trailer, Nolla expressed that in order for her to overcome her insecurities, Lebo would need to make some changes. Nolla said, "For me to stop being insecure, he needs to change."

Courtney and Aiden

After being in a relationship for seven years, Courtney and Aiden are faced with a crucial decision as Courtney decides to give Aiden an ultimatum. This couple holds the record for being the longest-standing pair on the Netflix show. In a moment of vulnerability during a confessional, Courtney admitted to questioning whether their feelings for each other are rooted in love or mere lust after all this time together.

Sizakele and Lindile

Sizakele and Lindile have only been dating for a mere six months, yet Lindile has already given Sizakele an ultimatum. During their conversation in the trailer, Lindile expressed uncertainty by saying, "I'm not sure, baby," prompting Sizakele to request they refrain from using pet names. He said, "Can we refrain from calling each other baby?" This request caused Lindile to abruptly end the conversation, get up, and leave the room.
