Who owns Shamrock Holdings? Taylor Swift’s old albums sale has fans saying 'can't wait for her Disney musical'
Taylor Swift’s old albums, which were owned by Scooter Braun for the past year, have been sold again, this time, to a private equity firm, Shamrock Holdings founded by Roy E Disney’s investment firm. After the news of Scooter Braun selling Taylor’s music surfaced, the singer broke her silence and shared the details with her fans to maintain "transparency and clarification".
Taylor’s statement read, “A few weeks ago my team received a letter from a private equity company called Shamrock Holdings, letting us know that they had bought 100% of my music, videos, and album art from Scooter Braun.” She added, “As soon as we started communication with Shamrock, I learned that under their terms Scooter Braun will continue to profit off my old music catalog for many years. I was hopeful and open to the possibility of a partnership with Shamrock but Scooter’s participation is a non-starter for me.”
Taylor has already started re-recording her old music again and teased her fans saying, “I have plenty of surprises in store.”

Swifties were quick enough to find that Shamrock Holdings is owned by Disney founders and this has spurred a mix of reactions from the fandom. While some are extremely happy at the possibility of Disney playing Taylor’s music, others feel that Taylor’s "stolen music" belongs to her only. A fan wrote, “OMFG DISNEY LOVE TAYLOR SWIFT they knew Taylor might not become partners with them and STILL they love her and want to work with her in the future. BAG THEM DISNEY SOUNDTRACKS B**CH THEY LOVE YOU @taylorswift13.”
Another wrote, "who would be evil and stupid enough to buy taylor's masters from scooter when she's re-recording now" disney. the answer is disney. it's always f**king disney.” One tweet read, “I’m Taylor Swift and you’re listening to my stolen masters. *disney channel theme*” A user asked, "Shamrock Holdings is owned by Disney.... Disney now owns Taylor Swifts music..... Does this make Taylor a Disney Princess? Another commented: “i was seriously wondering who had $300 million laying around to buy taylors masters but of course disney does.”

Shamrock Holdings has released an official statement talking about their intention behind the investment. It said, “Taylor Swift is a transcendent artist with a timeless catalog." It further read, “We made this investment because we believe in the immense value and opportunity that comes with her work. We fully respect and support her decision and, while we hoped to formally partner, we also knew this was a possible outcome that we considered. We appreciate Taylor’s open communication and professionalism with us these last few weeks. We hope to partner with her in new ways moving forward and remain committed to investing with artists in their work.”
