Who is Xana Kernodle's father? Now Xana's dad's criminal past surfaces as web sleuths hunt killer
MOSCOW, IDAHO: As the hunt to find the suspect behind the tragic death of four Idaho University students — Ethan Chapin, 20, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Madison Mogen Mogen, 21, continues — internet sleuths are doing their part by digging up information. One such eagle-eyed Twitter user posted a screenshot from a Whitepages.com search result that reportedly showed Xana’s father’s name, Jeffrey, who was supposedly held by the Idaho Department of Corrections before he was released in the year 2004.
The user wrote on Twitter, “#UniversityOfIdaho Family: Jeffrey, father of deceased Ms. Kernodle, did some time back in '04, Idaho Corrections, reason unk. Listed on the same page as "Cara," who, w/alias, also shows the same Avondale, AZ address as Jeff. (& deceased).” The screenshot also according to the user repeatedly showed Xana’s mother who was also held before being released in the year 2015.

Earlier in a similar Twitter thread, another user posted a screenshot from the current inmate list of Kootenai County Jail in Idaho which the user allegedly showed Xana’s mother Cara being held on drug charges. "Is anyone going to call out the fact that Xana Kernodle's mother, Cara, was arrested on Nov 19 on drug charges and is being held on 50k bond? That's a pretty stiff bond and happened so close to the death of Xana and the roommates not to be relevant." the user added.

On the second and third floors of a Moscow, Idaho, off-campus housing unit, Xana, 20, her boyfriend Ethan Chapin, 20, and friends Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, were discovered dead from stab wounds on November 13. Xana’s father, Jeffrey Kernodle later revealed to CBS 5, that Xana had bruises on her body, a sign that she was defending herself against her assailant. “Bruises, torn by the knife,” he remarked. When asked about the last conversation he had with her daughter, he recalled, "I heard from her I think before she went out. I think midnight was the last time we heard from her and she was fine."

Xana’s father also described his daughter as a strong and responsible woman, adding, “She didn’t really worry about the drama and stuff that much. She was never into that. She just liked having fun. Never about materialistic things.” Jeff also revealed that he was impressed with her daughter and her boyfriend Ethan Chapin’s relationship. "[W]hen I went up there she, I saw her just a week before that and she changed a lot. She had a life. She got to see what it was like to have a boyfriend you live with. And she really turned around. She was really responsible. Helping him out with his studies and stuff. I was really impressed,” he remarked.
