Since then, he has made numerous cinematic appearances in both his native Scandinavia and throughout the rest of Europe, including 'Headhunters' (2011) and 'A Thousand Times Good Night'. (2013).In the war drama 'Black Hawk Down' (2001), he made his American acting debut as Medal of Honor recipient Gary Gordon. Then, he portrayed Detective John Amsterdam in the brief Fox television series 'New Amsterdam' (2008). He also as Frank Pike in the 2009 Fox television movie 'Virtuality', which was originally meant to be a pilot. He rose to fame for his portrayal of Jaime Lannister in the HBO fantasy series 'Game of Thrones', for which he was nominated in 2018 for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
