LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Hall of Fame' quarterback Joe Montana and his wife confronted a home intruder on Saturday, September 26, who attempted to kidnap their nine-month-old grandchild, law enforcement officials confirmed. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Montana, said Montana's grandchild was sleeping in a playpen when an unknown woman entered their home in Malibu, California, and grabbed the child in a bid to take her away. Montana and his wife, Jennifer, confronted the woman whom the authorities later identified as Sodsai Dalzell. According to a CBS Local report, the incident unfolded around 5 pm at 22100 block of Pacific Coast Highway.
As the suspect held the child, the couple "confronted the female, attempted to de-escalate the situation, and asked for the suspect to give back their grandchild," said the LASD. "A tussle ensued and Mrs Montana was able to safely pry the child out of the suspect’s arms," the LASD statement stated. After the wrestle, the intruder ran out of the house. As soon as the news broke, people started praising the Montanas for their brave move. Following the woman's arrest, Montana thanked all who "reached out" for support. He demanded "privacy" from his fans. "Thank you to everyone who has reached out. Scary situation, but thankful that everybody is doing well. We appreciate respect for our privacy at this time," Montana tweeted on Sunday, September 27.
