Who is Sasha Banks' husband Sarath Ton? How the couple's relationship created an 'absolute fan-favorite' WWE look
Who is the husband of 'Smackdown Queen' and WWE superstar, Sasha Banks, who has her fans swooning over her fierce beauty all year round? On November 7, Sasha aka Kaestner-Varnado is celebrating what the viewers are calling ‘Best Match of the year’. But here’s a story on how Sasha’s personal life also comes with a handful of punches that she has been dodging away from the limelight.
Sasha is married to Sarath Ton, a costume designer and backstage employee of WWE, famously known for his superstar costume designs. The duo got married in August 2016 after knowing each other from WWE, when Ton started designing her costumes.
Ton has been working with WWE as a costume designer ever since and turned heads around for the famous Paige and Summer Rae among others. But as he agrees, his best work is Banks’ "Boss" costume made of dark armbands and cool shades, purple hair, blingy decorative chains, and a lot of jewelry coupled with money sign medallions and the Boss logo literally everywhere from the t-shirt to necklace and ring even bracelets, an "absolute fan-favorite look". Banks had tweeted the look with the caption: "Boss of Friday nights!"
Ton shared in a documentary, “Probably the most lasting relationship I made because of my work is Sasha Banks,” adding, “I’ve been making her gear since she first started [wrestling]. Literally, just when I first met her, I knew she needed gear. I let her know, like, ‘Hey, I got you.’ It’s been working out ever since, obviously.” The duo started seeing each other when Ton started making costumes for her. Ton has also expressed how his relationship with Sasha in WWE has been a long-lasting relationship both professionally and personally.
Banks echoes the sentiments of her husband in an interview as well stating, “I haven’t been able to pick out what colors I wanted or scheme,” said Banks. “I just had him do it because now he knows what I want. He envisions it. I just tell him, ‘I want to look the best, the greatest. Just do your thing,’ and he always makes me look amazing.”
Prior to designing costumes for superstars, Ton used to design action figure costumes, and surprising to many fans, the 37 years-old was a professional wrestler.
Known as the Kid Mikaze, Massachusetts born Ton made a name for himself with his unique wrestling style, breaking the monotony of daily wrestling matching and blending Martial Arts with wrestling, a format that the viewers really enjoyed watching. Kid Mikaze started wrestling in 2001 and was especially famous for his aerial stunts. He also acquired several titles like Chaotic Wrestling's heavyweight title, New England title, and tag team titles. Mikaze has also appeared in WWE Raw as Rutherford Hayes teaming up with William Fillmore against Ryback in a Handicap Squash Match, which is also the only time his fans could see him in the WWE ring.
Despite a flourishing career, Mikaze's retirement as a professional wrestler has a horrific story behind it. The former wrestler was injured in a deadly accident. It happened during an NXT taping where the Vietnamese descent wrestler received a bad blow to the head leaving him unconscious. After this, he didn’t return to the ring again.
