ORLANDO, FLORIDA: A Florida woman who ran over and killed her husband while searching for her dog is now charged with intoxicated driving.

According to jail records provided by Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Sally Gore, 70, is charged with DUI causing death, a felony, and DUI, a misdemeanor.

Gore and her husband were reportedly returning home from dinner on Friday night, October 20, when they noticed that their front gate was open, leading them to think that their pup had gotten out, as reported by ClickOrlando

When were the authorities informed about the incident?

A 911 caller reportedly informed the authorities that a man was lying in the road, bleeding from the head and unresponsive in front of the home.

As per an arrest report, a person at the scene stated that a Honda Ridgeline SUV was stopped in the road and that Gore was standing in front of the vehicle.

The caller told the police that the smell of alcohol was detected on Gore, who drove to look “for their dog, which they believed had ran away.”

What did the authorities find on arriving at the scene?

When they reached the scene, police found the body of Gore’s husband lying in the road, just adjacent to the couple’s driveway.

He was declared dead at the scene, and officials noted impact marks on his body consistent with the edge of a vehicle.

The rear tailgate of the SUV showed markings consistent with an impact, and the undercarriage was freshly disturbed.

While conversing with Gore, investigators detected a strong odor of alcohol on her breath, and her speech was slurred.

What did Gore tell the authorities?

Gore told the authorities that her dog, who had a history of getting out, had escaped.

She explained that she and her husband had agreed that he would exit the vehicle to search for the dog while she remained in the car to look for the pup, according to the police.

After a few moments, her husband left the vehicle. She told the police that she backed out of the driveway and drove north to search for the dog.

Upon returning home after going around the block, officers said a woman stopped her and pointed out a body in the street.

According to the report, she recognized the body as her husband and was unaware of any impact on him as she drove to search for the dog.
