Who is Pierre Lipton?
Lipton is the founder of 1440 Media, a daily emailed newsletter that sent out 'unbiased' news. He was named on Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 1440 Media which was named after the year the printing press was invented and the number of minutes in a day, according to the Boston Globe. The Chicago-based newsletter was founded in 2018 and has more than 2 million subscribers. On the day of the ill-fated tragedy, Lipton had completed the Meza Marathon in 3 hours, 10 minutes, and 5 seconds after running 26.2 miles.
What really happened?
After Pereboom was unable to reach Lipton, she used her phone tracker and was appalled to find his location to be at a hospital. "That’s when I started to get worried," she told the Boston Globe. She found an official who informed her that he "basically fell right into the arms of paramedics." "They tried to do CPR. They tried everything. We still don’t know what happened," Pereboom said. Lipton's father Jordan Lipton is an emergency medicine specialist and he theorized that his son's death could have been caused by a "sudden electrolyte imbalance that caused arrhythmia" which is a medical condition that causes an irregular heartbeat.
However, Lipton's official cause of death remains unknown. There were many speculations about his death due to the running conditions at the marathon. The weather temperature ranged between 49 and 69 degrees, reported Daily Mail. Emotional Jordan highlighted that his son was "healthy" and "took such good care of himself." Lipton showed no signs of distress or silliness moments leading to his collapse. The Lipton's have started GoFundMe or charitable contributions and said a philanthropic organization to honor their beloved son. Sources reported this will help those facing food crises, environmental protection, the underprivileged, and animal welfare.
