Who is Pierre Augustin? Man slams unguarded NYC subways after homeless man with lengthy rap sheet shoves him onto tracks
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Pierre Augustin, a Brooklyn resident who was shoved into subway tracks by a homeless guy with a lengthy criminal history, condemned NYC authorities for failing to protect train passengers. Augustin demanded that more police be stationed at transit hubs as he thought the scenario he was in was "ridiculous."
On the afternoon of Saturday, February 11, Augustin was pushed off the platform at the President Street station in Crown Heights after an unprovoked attack by a homeless man named Corey Walcott, 44, and narrowly escaped death. "This is ridiculous! I can tell you, the subway station — there is no one here to help you. When you get there, you are on your own. No police, nothing! In New York, they don't protect you," he told New York Post on Wednesday, February 15. In addition, he questioned why Walcott, his alleged attacker, was still free to roam the streets after having been arrested at least 19 times in the previous 12 years, according to NYPD police sources.

Augustin declared, "When they have a person [arrested] many times like that... that's a problem!" He also vowed to go to "War against the city for that” and maybe file a lawsuit as a result of the incident, as per New York Post. He added, "I'm not going to the city to make money. But I want the city to change these things."
Who is Pierre Augustin?
Pierre Augustin, a 66-year-old father-of-two and, was born in Haiti. In 1995, he moved to Brooklyn. The business owner was left completely broken by the events of Saturday, February 11, and he said, "My body's killing me. I cannot stand up without someone helping me," according to New York Post. Authorities claimed that Augustin was waiting for the 2 train at the President Street station in Crown Heights when Walcott reportedly attacked him at around 3 pm on Saturday, February 11. Augustin stated that Walcott, whom he had never seen previously, had threatened to murder him as soon as he went upon the platform, according to New York Post.
Augustin said, "I saw him try to put his hand in his coat. I said, 'Why you want to kill me? I don't have any problem with you'. I thought he had a gun or a knife... I didn't want him to touch me." He claimed that when the stranger chased after him, he fled.
Walcott, however, is accused of catching up with him and pushing him from behind, causing him to fall to the tracks, according to New York Post. Augustin stated that two good Samaritans pulled him off the tracks and called the police to save him.
What charges is Corey Walcott facing?
Walcott, who has a lengthy criminal history, was arrested in Manhattan at 14th Street and Sixth Avenue following the incident in February 11, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig. Court documents revealed that he was charged with second-degree attempted murder, attempted assault, reckless endangerment, menacing, and harassment.
Walcott appeared to dispute the charges in a statement to police made after his arrest. He reportedly told police, "That's not me running down and chasing that dude. I was drunk as hell, I can't even remember. I don't think it was me touching that dude... I didn't touch nobody. I know I was intoxicated but I didn't push nobody," according to court records.
