Who is Nicole Curtis? Meet the 'Rehab Addict Rescue' host who is a single mom and boasts a seven-figure net worth
For all you 'Rehab Rescue' fans, there's definitely good news. Even if you aren't a fan or don't remember the series, this news is exciting nonetheless. HGTV has a new home makeover show — 'Rehab Rescue Addict'!
The new homemaker show follows homeowners who've brought old, antic properties, with the hope of restoring their former glory. While this sounds exciting, there is a ton of work that goes into the process, and more often than not, these homeowners end up with massive bills and more of a headache than they bargained for.
Enter Nicole Curtis, the former host of 'Rehab Rescue'. Curtis definitely knows a thing or two about home renovations, seeing that her previous show, which ran between 2010 to 2018 saw her taken on home restorations on her own.
This time around, she won't be doing any heavy lifting herself but helping these new homeowners cover all the basics. Curtis steps in as the professional consultant, who helps them work within their allotted budgets.
Curtis will be the one walking them through the process of taking care of essentials such as plumbing and structural repairs, to more aesthetic elements like retaining original elements of the home and reviving them.
So, what exactly makes Curtis the perfect person for the job? Here's what we know about the reality TV host.
Curtis wears many hats
A licensed realtor, Curtis has been flipping old houses and breathing new life into them long before she landed 'Rehab Addict' in 2010. Apart from this, she dabbled in real estate and design. She has also written a book — ' Better Than New' — which was a New York Times and USA Today Bestseller.
The book not only talks about her work but also details her struggles as well. The summary mentions that: "Better Than New reveals what’s not seen on TV — Curtis’s personal battles and her personal triumphs, her complicated relationships, her life as a single mother, the story of how she got started remodeling houses, and the consuming ins and outs of producing a megahit television show while keeping up with two kids, two rescue dogs, and countless tasks on her home renovation punch lists."
She is very close to her crew
One of the primary reasons why the show went on hiatus and then off the air was due to the medical condition of a crewman's daughter. Curtis was close to her building crew, so when the team realized that one of the builder's daughters, Tessa Prothero, was diagnosed with cancer, Curtis worked relentlessly to secure funds for her treatment. Unfortunately, Tessa died in June 2017.
As Curtis has said on her website, "The truth is that our little Rehab family went through some heartbreak (Tessa Prothero) and we decided to take a break."
Her net worth is $7 million
Between hosting 'Rehab Addict' for eight years, being an author of a best-selling book, a licensed realtor and design work, Curtis' net worth is currently $7 million.
Seeing that she's back in the limelight, we can only expect it to grow from here on out.
She is a single mother of two boys
Curtis is a devoted mother of two boys, Ethan and Harper. Ethan is 22 and Harper is three years old. Despite the massive age gap between her sons, Curtis is a very hands-on mom. She took to Instagram to talk about motherhood.
The caption reads: "I never asked God for anything except to make me a mama. As the "old" mom (because I've already been through the teen years) I get asked what I do differently. Well, I recognize that problematic moments stem from frustration rather than defiance. I smile more and don't worry what others think of my parenting and focus on what matters most to my children. No mom is perfect, but the perfect gift a mom can give a child is to always be able to say I'm sorry -let's try that again. We have to be able to show love, acceptance and forgiveness to teach it. #mothersdayweekend."
