Who is Matthew Nilo? Boston attorney accused of serial rape charged for sexually assaulting four more women

The 35-year-old New Jersey attorney has now been reportedly accused by eight women in total

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS: An alleged rapist has now been indicted on new charges after being accused of sexually assaulting four more women in Boston. Matthew Nilo was earlier facing charges for the rape of three women and the attempted rape of a fourth one. However, as per the new allegations, he attacked four more women, between 2007 and 2008 in the North End neighborhood.

It has also been alleged that the 35-year-old man raped one of the women twice. The new charges reportedly are one count of rape, one count of aggravated rape, three counts of assault with intent to rape, and two counts of indecent assault and battery.

A statement from the district attorney's office read, as per the Daily Mail, “The newly-indicted attacks occurred at the time that Nilo was living in the North End and during the same period as the attacks against women in Charlestown for which Nilo is already charged. The incidents followed a similar pattern. The victims were attacked while they were walking alone, in the dark, either at night or early in the morning.”

Cops became suspicious of him after "DNA evidence identified through the genealogy database 23 and Me" linked him to the crimes. 

‘Mr Nilo denies all the allegations’

Nilo was arrested on May 30 for the previous charges which included three counts of aggravated rape, two counts of kidnapping, one count of assault with intent to rape, and one count of indecent assault and battery. But he pled not guilty and was freed on June 15 after his fiancée Laura Griffin paid $500,000 as bail amount.

The suspect, however, was ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor. Joseph Cataldo, who is representing Nilo, said about the new charges, “Mr Nilo denies all the allegations including the latest charges. You can expect both a legal and a factual challenge to the government's case.”

Who is Matthew Nilo?

Nilo is a well-known lawyer. As per his now-deleted LinkedIn page, he did his bachelor's in psychology from the University of Wisconsin- Madison before doing law at the University of San Francisco. He was reportedly an employee at Cowbell Cyber when he was arrested. At the time, the company said, "Matthew Nilo was an employee of Cowbell and was hired in January, 2023, after passing our background check. Mr. Nilo’s employment at Cowbell has been suspended pending further investigation."

Meanwhile, people on the internet have a lot to say about the alleged criminal as a user tweeted, “Disgusting. Imagine how many people he's shut up because of his powerful stand. Absolutely disgusting.” Another user wrote, “Monsters are often well dressed and seemingly 'good' people.”

The third user commented, “Serial rapists don’t usually stop unless They are caught, so chances are this guy raped women in all the places he lived. I hope the police cross-check rapes in those areas with his DNA.” “I remember this happening in the North End. There were multiple assaults. So that means he was like 20 years old when he was doing this. Scumbag,” the fourth user added.
