Who is Maria Sakkari’s boyfriend? Konstantinos Mitsotakis' dad is Greece's PM
Maria Sakkari is eyeing her first Grand Slam final as she takes on the UK's Emma Raducanu in the US Open semi-final.
Sakkari used her powerful serve and outstanding court coverage to make it to the US Open semi-finals after scoring a 6-4 6-4 victory over Karolina Pliskova on Wednesday, September 8. She dedicated her victory to the people of Greece, who have endured a summer marked with brutal wildfires. That said, the tennis sensation already enjoys plenty of support and influence in her home country, considering she is currently dating the Greek Prime Minister's son Konstantinos Mitsotakis.

Who is Maria Sakkari's boyfriend?
Konstantinos, the son of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is named after his grandfather, who also served as prime minister of Greece from 1990 to 1993. Konstantinos belongs to one of the country's most powerful political families, and many of his relatives hold some of the highest offices as part of the conservative New Democracy party.
His cousin Kostas Bakoyannis is currently the mayor of Athens and his aunt Dora Bakoyannis is a former foreign minister, which is reportedly the highest political position a woman has ever held in Greece. Meanwhile, the Athens International Airport is named after Konstantinos' great great great uncle Eleftherios Venizelos, who was one of Greece's most popular prime ministers.
Sakkari revealed that she and Konstantinos started dating in 2020. “It has been a year now since we met and the truth is that he helped me a lot," she told Greek TV channel Alpha in September 2021. "He is a special guy. I have disclosed the relationship anyway; it is not hidden. I think it was a big part of why I did well at Roland Garros as I spent my free time with him very differently from when I was alone. He calmed me down, talked to me, he was very supportive."
"Konstantinos is a very simple guy," she added. "I can talk to him for hours. We have a very easy relationship. He is a very easy person."
Konstantinos completed his mandatory military service in the army just before the commencement of the French Open this year, according to Greek City Times. The prime minister's son is said to have enlisted in the artillery in September 2020, after which he was transferred to the “Ioannou” camp in Evros, at the nation's border with Turkey. Konstantinos was visited by his father at the Ioannou camp last October, according to The Focus.
Having said that, Sakkari has previously been linked to Greek tennis superstar Stefanos Tsitsipas. While both have publicly expressed how fond they are of each other, they have reportedly never dated. "She is a very nice girl and a good character. I could date her but I do not, I do not know why," Tsitsipas once said of Sakkari. "I was shy, now I am more open. Getting older, I am more mature and I understand by myself what I want."
Speaking of Tsitsipas, Sakkari said he's the "one guy" who inspired her. "He’s a player and an athlete I’m going to look after and it’s very important for me to have him because if I’m alone on the tour (from Greece), I have no one to look after… Stefanos is a role model for us and for me," she said, adding, "It’s good to look after another player from your country, and we are only two. I think it’s a great thing and it’s great for our country."
