An influencer has been taken into police custody after she shared videos of herself abusing her six-month-old puppy Max to get more followers. Lovely Peaches, whose real name is Brittany Johnson, is a social media influencer and is accused of spraying perfume into the eyes of six-month-old Jack Russell terrier, before picking it up by its neck from a coat hanger and breaking its legs. The 20-year-old was arrested on January 22 after social media users informed police and PETA about her alleged abuses on the dog. As per a Sun report, Peaches was detained at Motel 6 in DeKalb County in Georgia, while the animal was sent to DeKalb's animal services. Before her arrest, several people took to the internet while urging the police for her arrest. Some of them even shared clips of Peaches with the dog. One such user posted, “tw// animal abuse LOVELY PEACHES IS ABUSING HER DOG SHE RECENTLY ADOPTED IN THIS VIDEO!!! PLEASE SHARE IT SO IT CAN GET IN THE RIGHT HANDS AND WE CAN ALERT THE PROPER AUTHORITIES #lovelypeaches #AnimalAbuse.” Another added, “peaches needs to be arrested. @peta please boost this!! and comment down below anything that you know regarding where she got mad & where she is currently staying.she needs to be stop this is fucking animal abuse #lovelypeaches #peaches #boost.”

Peaches had also taken to social media to falsely claim that her dog died. She shared a photo of Max with over 140,000 followers on one of her social media pages and wrote, “As I Posted On My Personal Max is no Longer With Us Rip Buddy #6Months on this Earth Keep Me In Prayers." But later, it was revealed that the pooch was alive and she only gave him over to animal-control officers. Official records showed that the woman confessed to police to making "statements on her social media about harming or killing her dog to get more followers on social media". A spokesperson for the DeKalb County Police Department said in a statement, “Until her case is concluded, she is not allowed to own or care for any animals. Meanwhile, her Jack Russell Terrier was taken into custody by Animal Services, where it was examined by a veterinarian and Johnson voluntarily signed over custody."

Reports also stated that Peaches is not new to controversy. She had previously falsely claimed that she abused her toddler daughter Cora, sold her to sex traffickers, and even killed her. The woman also claimed to hire a man to rape Charlie D'Amelio, which resulted in her ban from TikTok.

In another incident, a man from Missouri was arrested and charged in 2020 for torturing, killing, and dismembering several cats and kittens that he bought or received for free after seeing online ads for them. Kaine Louzader, of Wild Deer Lane near St. Peters, St. Charles County, was arrested on May 10, last year while he was living at his grandparents' home. As per official documents, the 20-year-old killed around 12 cats and kittens after getting them from people who were offering them for sale or free on Craigslist.
