'Stillness, Solitude, and Silence'

During a recent ‘Today with Hoda and Kotb’ episode, the hosts welcomed Tran and talked about her latest book. Kotb said, “We’re so happy you’re here on your pub date. This is the date your book is published.” She continues, “Well, this defines success for you. You got your book published, and this is your big day, but finding the definition of success is important. Otherwise, we don’t know what we’re running towards, right?” Tran replied, “Exactly! The thing is, there is the arrival fallacy in psychology. We set a goal. We get it. Then we feel exactly the same afterward.” Tran discussed how it is important to find the “internal success” which is “unique to you, meaningful and long-lasting.” She believes each one of us is “preprogrammed tracks." She further went on to explain her book which tells people to realize, “I’m unique, I have my own path.”

During their discussion, Hager questions Tran, “You say in your book, one of the most important things to do is to listen to our intuition. But we’re totally overstimulated as a society with cell phones and television. You have advice on how to garner it?”

Tran then explains, “Yes, what it means is when you know something without knowing how you know it.” She continues, “It’s like that moment in the shower when you are like, I have an idea, I know what I am doing or need to call this friend and you call them and she says I needed you, right?” “So intuition is a space for that manning I can to come in when you know something without knowing how you know it,” she said.

Tran then shares her three essentials for a grounded life as she said, “You need your fill of the three S’s every day, Stillness, Solitude, and Silence.” Kotb explains her reaction to the three S’s, “They seem – I feel relaxed even hearing the words. If you find those, what do you do with that time?” Tran replies, “We can say how can I have an hour of the three S’s every day. You just need 15 minutes. It might be taking time for yourself over a cup of tea, walking your dog without your cellphone, anything where you can hear yourself and let that intuition come in because otherwise, we are just, you know, following beeping on our phones every day instead of tunning into ourselves.”

The ladies shifted the topic to manifestation as Hager asked, “Manifesting is something that we talk a lot about on this show. And something that we do on this show. But you have a process when it comes to manifesting and success. Talk to us about it.” Tran then explains her tips on manifesting success as she explains, “It’s a very simple three-step process.” She continues, “The first step is to visualization and that’s about seeing what it is that you want in five sensory detail," further adding, “And then to vocalize it. Tell someone. Bring it to life.”
