LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA: One of the protesters arrested following violent protests in Lancaster is a Kappa Delta sorority sister and is reportedly an "ally" of a Black rights organization at her college. Kathryn Patterson, 20, was arrested on Monday, September, 14, along with 12 others on a number of felony and misdemeanor charges including arson, riot, vandalism, and criminal conspiracy. Nine of them including her are being held on $1 million bail, according to court records.

Patterson is originally from the town of Mercersburg, about two hours west of Lancaster, and studies as an undergraduate at Franklin and Marshall College in the city. She is considered an “ally” of the college’s Black Student Union.  According to Patterson's Facebook page, she is an ardent Black Lives matter supporter. She posted a photo on Facebook on August 1, which showed her marching in all black with the caption, “BLM, all day everyday.” “My left fist, to symbolize black power,” the young activist commented beneath her own photo.

A GoFundMe page was set up for Patterson titled, "Help BSU's Ally Kat Patterson" to cover her legal fees. A description on the page read, "On Sunday 09/13/2020 Lancaster PD shot and killed Ricardo Munoz. During the protest that evening Lancaster PD detained Kathryn Patterson. Kat is a student at Franklin and Marshall College where she is an ally of BSU, and a member of Kappa Delta Sorority."

It added, "Kat was providing medical attention to injured demonstrators and has now been wrongfully accused of crimes she could not possibly commit.
We as members of the Black Student Union and Kappa Delta Sorority, have created this fund to raise money to support Kat and her family."

At the time of writing this article, the page had raised $52,445 of its $60,000 goal. The latest update on the page confirmed, "We can announce that Kat was finally able to speak with her dad for 6 minutes last night! She has heard about all the support that has gone her way and she cannot express how grateful she is to every single donor and supporter. We, also, want to thank everyone who has offered legal advice thus far and we will share that with her family."

Chip Patterson, Kathryn's father said that he spoke to his daughter on September 15 night, adding her bail amount was “obscene.” “I don’t know what happened Sunday night, we didn’t talk about that,” he said. “I don’t know what she did or didn’t do. I would be shocked if she did something violent.”

The page urged people to support the GoFundMe pages for Taylor Enterline and Alexa Wise, both of whom were arrested along with Patterson. The GoFundMe Page set up for Enterline said, “She was then charged with guns by police along with another person from her activist group. She is being held under false charges that all witnesses protest against, She was denied her family lawyer and charged with a $1,000,000 bail that is a direct violation to her 8th amendment rights.”
