WASHINGTON, DC: California Senator Dianne Feinstein, who is also the oldest Congress member, has reportedly given the authority of power of attorney to her daughter. Katherine Feinstein is said to be Dianne's only daughter, whom she had with her first husband, Judge Jack Berman.

The New York Post reported citing a report by the New York Times that the 90-year-old took the decision regarding the power of attorney so that the 66-year-old can assist her in managing “legal battles over her late husband Richard Blum’s estate.” Blum was Dianne’s third husband, who died of cancer in February 2022.

‘His enormous generosity is an inspiration for so many of us’

At the time, a statement issued by Dianne’s office read, “Dick was incredibly devoted to his family, particularly his daughters and his grandchildren, and my heart is with them and everyone who Dick encountered. He was the type of man who really replaced his divot in life, who left things better than he found them. His enormous generosity is an inspiration for so many of us.”

The report stated that one of the reasons for the dispute between Katherine and Blum’s three daughters – Annette, Heidi, and Eileen — is a luxury beach house. Another issue revolves around Blum’s life insurance, which the former mayor of San Francisco wants to have so that she can pay her escalating medical bills after facing health issues lately that saw her missing from the Capitol for months.

‘She can no longer fulfill her duties’

Earlier this year, Congressman Ro Khanna demanded Feinstein's resignation. He reportedly said, “It’s time for [Feinstein] to resign. We need to put the country ahead of personal loyalty. While she has had a lifetime of public service, it is obvious she can no longer fulfill her duties. Not speaking out undermines our credibility as elected representatives of the people.”

Rep Dean Phillips (D-Minn) added, “I agree with [Khanna]. Senator Feinstein is a remarkable American whose contributions to our country are immeasurable. But I believe it’s now a dereliction of duty to remain in the Senate and a dereliction of duty for those who agree to remain quiet.”

Who is Katherine Feinstein's husband?

Katherine is not just Dianne's daughter but also worked as a San Francisco County Superior Court Judge. Currently, she is the San Francisco Fire Commission's president. In her personal life, she is reportedly married to Rick Mariano, who is an artist.

There is not much information available about Mariano except he shares a daughter named Eileen Feinstein Mariano with Katherine.
