On August 9, Twitteratti was surprised by the string of tweets shared by a user called Jake Webber, who blatantly spoke against voting for President Donald Trump while addressing the issue of inequality. His bold tweets have gathered an unimaginable amount of attention, with a significant number of Twitter followers urging the social networking site to verify his official account. So who is Jake Webber and what did he say?

Webber is a 22-year-old YouTube sensation who first established himself in the world of social media through Vine in 2013. His videos mostly focused on creative skits and funny conversations with fellow millennials. In a short span of time, his content earned him over 100,000 followers. Later, he participated in MAGCON, a meet and greet convention for Vine stars and Thor fans, which further contributed to Webber’s already rising fame. Reportedly, by the end of 2016, the young social media star had over 825,000 followers on Vine before the app shut down.

After Vine was shut down, Webber shifted to YouTube and started posting videos on his official channel which existed since 2014. Over the years, his channel has attracted around 1,700,000 followers and features a large number of prank videos, which are conceptualized by Webber himself. Some of the highest viewed videos on his channel include collaborations with other notable YouTubers such as Colby Brock and Sam Golbach. Furthermore, Webber is known among Instagram users as well, thanks to his official handle that boasts around 795,000 followers.

Webber started trending on Twitter for what he had to say about the dangers of voting for Trump. He first tweeted, "The people that were against women voting. the people that were against black freedom. the people that support trump. you are the same it seems normal now, like it was normal to them in the past, but in 50 years, if you vote. trump you will go down in history as a piece of s**t!"

The following tweets read, “Equality is not political. if you have a problem with humans. seeking equality. you’re probably comfortably straight and white. if you don’t see the problem you are the problem."

In the next tweet, Webber stated that he was “speaking in general” as he wondered where he stood on these matters as he’s “tired of seeing constant inequality everyday”.

Webber’s tweets garnered a lot of attention as internet users started appreciating the social media influencer for using his platform to spread awareness about the prevalent issues and offering an honest opinion about the state of the nation. Many, who believed that Webber deserved better recognition, urged Twitter to verify his account. One fan wrote, “Think its time jake webber gets verified so some verified people can see how to use their platform."

Another added, “@Twitter @TwitterSupport time to verify jake webber.or else....”

A few of them also noted, although jokingly, that Webber should run for president in the upcoming elections. One Twitter user wrote, “This man right here is the man we need as our president he will make this world 10x better jake webber for president 2020.”

Another added, “Honestly, I'm happy to support you, I've never seen so.eone talk so well. Jake webber for president 2020."
