AUSTIN, TEXAS: Following his appearance on the first season of 'The Ultimatum: Marry or Move', Jake Cunningham is now preparing to embark on a new quest for love. This reality TV personality has faced his fair share of romantic turmoil, enduring the heartbreak of two unsuccessful relationships while competing on the reality dating show.

After the reality show concluded, Jake and April Marie mutually agreed to part ways as their marriage had deteriorated. Jake had started to develop romantic feelings for Rae Williams, meanwhile April found herself becoming more interested in Cody Cooper. This shift in emotions ultimately led to the downfall of their relationship.

Now, Jake is prepared to turn over a new leaf and leave the past behind him. With his experience as a veteran of the Texas Army, he is more than capable of overcoming any obstacles that may arise in the realm of relationships. Jake is determined to approach this next chapter with resilience and determination.

In the past, Jake served in the United States Marine Corps for a few years and was deployed to different locations, with Kuwait being a significant posting in the late 2010s. He explained that one reason he was reluctant to accept April's proposal of marriage was because he had recently returned from active duty and needed time to reflect on his experiences and plan his future.

Through his social media posts detailing his military service, it was evident that he took pride in his time in the Corps. 'The Ultimatum' marked his debut appearance on television.

Jake Cunningham almost didn’t appear on ‘The Ultimatum’

Despite 'The Ultimatum' being known for its drama on Netflix, the show was already filled with tension before it even started. In an interview with Buzzfeed, Jake admitted that he almost pulled out of filming at the last minute.

"The day before we left, I was stressed, and my anxiety was through the roof," Jake told the media outlet.

These doubts made him question whether or not he should participate in the show, but ultimately, he decided to go through with it for April's sake, knowing that it could help boost her career as a social media influencer.

At the moment, April is dating Austin-based real estate agent Cody Cooper. The pair welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Mila Aven Cooper in August 2023.

Jake Cunningham didn’t know marriage was a part of ‘The Ultimatum’

Jake Cunningham was completely unaware that marriage would be a factor in 'The Ultimatum'. It seems that the production team neglected to inform him of the show's premise beforehand. Despite the obvious implication in the title, Jake was taken aback when he realized the true nature of the show.

While having a chat with the publication, the Texas native said, "A lot of us didn't even know there was an ultimatum, or that marriage was anything to do with the show."

"We were told we were living with other cast members, we were going to be dating and moving in with them, and then after the three weeks, we'd be moving back in with our ex," he further added.
