LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It looks like M Night Shyamalan's daughter, Ishana, is following in her father's footsteps into the world of cinema. The 22-year-old will soon make her directorial debut with the thriller 'The Watchers'. Ishana is also credited with the Apple TV+ series, 'Servant', and the movies, 'Old' and 'Knock at the Cabin'.
'The Watchers' is based on a novel written by AM Shine. The book is a horror adventure set in the remote unknown forests of Galway, a small city in Ireland, where mysterious creatures keep humans imprisoned and constantly observe them.

A classic Shyamalan
The project was subject to a lot of back and forth in a competitive bidding situation which resulted in New Line Cinema winning the rights to produce the movie, per Deadline. The film is all set for a theatrical release on June 7, 2024, and procudtion will begin by the end of 2023. The movie will be a classic Shyamalan with the signature eerie tones. The plot will revolve around a 28-year-old artist, Mina, who is stranded in a remote part of western Ireland in a part of a forest that doesn't seem to end. There starts a journey of hiding from deadly creatures and surviving in the never-ending forest. Shyamalan shared a snapshot of her featured article by Deadline on her official Instagram account with the caption, "Surreal…. a journey BEGINS."
What are Ishana Night Shyamalan's earlier projects?
Looking at the projects that Ishana has worked on, it seems like she always had her heart set on becoming a director. Before jumping into 'The Watchers' director's chair, Ishana assisted her father by directing five episodes of 'Servant', music videos, she worked as a second unit director on his 2021 movie 'Old', and his latest horror flick, 'Knock at the Cabin'.
As per CBR.com, President and CCO of New Line Cinema, Richard Brener, is reportedly promoting her debut. Brener said in a statement, “We couldn’t be more excited to make Ishana’s first film with The Watchers. Equal parts visual, immersive, and terrifying, the script grips you from the first page and never lets go."
