Who is HAchubby? Twitch streamer at convenience store went from quitting job to becoming boss of her own store
A Twitch star from South Korea has opened her own store after overcoming struggles she faced while becoming her own boss. HAchubby became everyone’s favorite after she streamed her everyday work life at a convenience store. Soon her boss at Emart got to know that she was streaming in the store due to which she had to leave her job. Now, the streaming queen is the owner of her own convenience store called HAchuMart in Busan, South Korea on January 5 this year.
On February 24, in a video which she shared on her YouTube page, HAchubby candidly spoke about the struggles of being a business owner without any idea of how to run it. “I lost a big part of my stream and my life. And my viewers lost something they enjoyed to watch every weekend. I didn’t really want to quit this job because it kept me connected to the real world,” she said, talking about losing her old job.

HAchubby continued, "So I promised the viewers, don’t worry, we will have our own convenience store next year. I was crazy. I promised that I didn’t think well enough. I didn’t think about costs, staff, or location. I just said I was going to do it. Since then everyone was looking forward to it, a lot of people sent me cheering messages. Some viewers even supported me with donations."
“I asked my viewers to help me [design the store]. A lot of them shared their ideas, gave feedback, and worked on creative new designs. I made a lot of designs with my viewers, including the logo, uniform and even the ice cream box. I’m thankful to everyone who helped me make it. I don’t think I’d be able to make it on my own.”
The social media star also added how lucky she feels to have the support of “ family and friends”. She explained, "This was my first business ever, and I thought it would be hard for me to do it. I still can’t believe how many people decided to help. It was a miracle. It was very busy, but I was lucky enough to have family and friends to help me. I really achieved what I had dreamed of."
She added, "This is not just another convenience store. HAchuMart is the result of many people working together to make a dream come true. It all started with a girl streaming her part-time job, and with the support of the viewers, family, and friends, this girl now has her own convenience store."
Several people filled the comment section of the YouTube video with positive and congratulatory messages for HAchubby. One such user wrote, “This is insane. She went from working in a convenience store and barely being able to string together a sentence in English to becoming a world-famous streamer with friends and fans all over the world and a legitimate business owner. All within what? 2 years? This is legit one of the most inspiring and motivational stories I’ve ever heard.”
Another commented, “I always wondered why she wanted to open Hachumart, turns out she just loves to work and stream in a convenience store, she is just a really wholesome person widepeepoHappy (ssibal?)”. A user added: “i did not know that this was actually real, i thought this was just a internal meme, i am impressed.”
This comes after, in October last year, HAchubby said in an emotional message that she was forced to quit because of stream doxxers. She had stated, “The owner of the E-Mart found out that I was streaming at my job. I found it dangerous to keep working because several people found the address of the store I work in. I do not own this place, so it would be very difficult if something dangerous happens. So I told my boss that I would quit my job at E-Mart.”
“I will not forget the support of many people who helped me achieve my dream. Daily life at the boring, mediocre convenience store has turned into a special and enjoyable time thanks to you…I will never forget these memories,” she concluded at the time.
