FORT WAYNE, INDIANA: In an exclusive interview with The US Sun, Gerry Turner's father said that he was cheering for his son to choose runner-up Leslie Fhima over winner Theresa Nist.
Gerry proposed to Theresa, a New Jersey native, after their final date on 'The Golden Bachelor' after splitting up with Leslie.
Everett Turner, Gerry's father, claimed that he watched every episode of 'The Golden Bachelor' at his Fort Wayne, Indiana, home with his wife Norma and their friends to support their son.
Everett, who has yet to meet Theresa, stated in an exclusive interview with The US Sun that he had hoped his son would choose the personal trainer.
"I had Leslie picked out," he explained. "For some reason, I just didn't care for Theresa. I was 60 per cent for Leslie and 40 pe rcent for Theresa. I couldn't say why. Right off the bat, Theresa rubbed me the wrong way."
"But it don't matter. Now I have to change my tune! She’s marrying my son. I'm bound to like her."
"If she don't make him happy, I’ll probably kick her in the butt!" Everett said. "I like Theresa. There is not a problem with me not liking her."
"All I want is for him to be happy," he continued. "Whatever he decides to do, I'll back him 100 per cent."
Theresa Nist was front runner for Gerry Turner's stepmom
While Everett was on team Leslie, and Gerry's stepmother, Norma, had Theresa "picked out from the very star."
"I thought so because they had so much in common," Norma, also known as Peggy, told The US Sun.
"His two daughters and granddaughter seemed to like her last night. They are his pride and joy, so he’s listening to them," Norma said.
Everett and Norma are looking forward to their wedding, which will be aired on January 4th.

Gerry's wedding is quickly approaching, following his surprise proposal to Theresa, as it was revealed live in the December 1 Season finale that 'The Golden Wedding' would appear live on ABC on January 4, 2024, at 8/7c.
While Gerry's wedding will be the first to be shown as an ABC special in quite some time, it is far from the first in Bachelor's history.
Trista Rehn, the first Bachelorette, got the privilege when she married Ryan Sutter in a 2003 show.
Evan Bass and Carly Waddell, who divorced in 2017, were the most recent pair to do so.
Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist to honeymoon in Italy
The newest live wedding episode of 'The Golden Bachelor' followed other exciting news from host Jesse Palmer, who revealed that the program will send Gerry and Theresa on a romantic holiday to Italy.
"We can use that as our honeymoon trip because we are going to get married as quickly as we can. Because at our age, we don’t have a lot of time to waste," Gerry explained.
"So as soon as we can put together a wedding plan, we're getting married."
