MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE: Tyre Nichols, who died in an alleged heinous assault by five former police officers, cried for his mother before losing consciousness, as per police body cam. The Fed-Ex driver got into a heated argument with the police officers after he was stopped for violating traffic rules. The officers - Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr, and Justin Smith - were arrested and charged with second-degree murder, and other related charges by Shelby County authorities. The altercation that turned fatal took place on January 7, three days after which Nichols was reported dead, succumbing to his injuries at a hospital.

RowVaughn Wells, mother of Nichols said, her son was ‘beaten like a piñata.’ Anticipating violent protest as the authorities are set to release the police body cam recording the incident at 7 pm EST, on Friday, January 27, Wells said, “I don’t want us burning up our city, tearing up the streets, because that’s not what my son stood for. “If you guys are here for me and Tyre, then you will protest peacefully. You can get your point across but we don’t need to tear up our cities, people, because we do have to live in them,” the grief-stricken mother said.
