WASHINGTON, DC: The House Oversight Committee's national security subcommittee witnessed a riveting and highly anticipated hearing as former military intelligence officer David Grusch turned whistleblower, making explosive revelations about the alleged cover-up of information regarding unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) or UFOs. During his testimony, Grusch divulged startling details about a "multi-decade UAP crash retrieval and reverse-engineering program" that has remained concealed from Congress for years, raising serious concerns about government transparency and accountability.

Who is David Grusch?

David Grusch, a former intelligence officer with 14 years of dedicated service in the Air Force and National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, emerged as a key witness before lawmakers, bringing significant insider knowledge to the UAP mystery. Previously serving as the National Reconnaissance Office's representative to the AARO and its predecessor task force, Grusch revealed that he was informed of "a multi-decade UAP crash retrieval and reverse-engineering program" but denied access to such crucial classified UAP programs despite his involvement in examining classified projects. He accused the military of misappropriating funds in an intentional effort to withhold vital information from congressional oversight.

According to Grusch's testimony, his involvement in classified programs unveiled officials with direct knowledge of aircraft featuring "nonhuman" origins. He further disclosed that "biologics" had been recovered from some of these mysterious crafts, pointing to a profound and potentially transformative revelation in our understanding of UAP. While Grusch acknowledged his limitations in answering certain questions about classified programs in the open hearing, he expressed hope that his "actions would ultimately lead to a positive outcome of increased transparency." As a former intelligence officer, Grusch emphasized that revealing classified information would potentially subject him to legal consequences. "I go to jail for revealing classified information,” he told members of the committee, The Hill reported.

Congressional response

Members of both political parties expressed shared concerns over the lack of transparency and forthrightness surrounding UAP encounters, igniting calls for a deeper and more rigorous investigation. "We're going to uncover the cover-up, and I hope this is just the beginning of many more hearings and many more people coming forward about this," Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tennessee) said. The UAP issue has garnered unprecedented attention from Congress and the public in recent years, particularly with the release of video recordings capturing encounters with unexplained aerial phenomena displaying extraordinary maneuvers and velocities without discernible propulsion.

The Pentagon's All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office, established by Congress last year to probe UAP incidents, has been inundated with approximately 800 reports as of May. While some incidents have been attributed to conventional explanations, a significant number of cases remain enigmatic, prompting lawmakers to demand further disclosures and clarity about the scope of knowledge possessed by the military and intelligence community.

Testimonies by Ryan Graves and David Fravor

Accompanying Grusch at the hearing were two former fighter pilots, Ryan Graves and David Fravor, both of whom had their own captivating encounters with UAP. Graves, an F-18 pilot stationed in Virginia Beach in 2014, recounted astonishing sightings of "dark grey or black cubes inside of a clear sphere," adding more compelling evidence to the growing body of unexplained aerial events.

David Fravor's 2004 encounter off the California coast became one of the most renowned UAP incidents, prominently featured in the famous "Tic Tac" video. Fravor's gripping testimony depicted an oval-shaped object displaying extraordinary abilities, surpassing any known human-made technology. His account underscored the perplexing nature of UAP encounters and the imperative for comprehensive investigations. "I think what we experienced was, like I said, well beyond the material science and the capabilities that we had at the time, that we have currently or that we're going to have in the next 10 to 20 years," Fravor said.

That said, members of the subcommittee expressed deep frustration over their inability to access a secure hearing room (SCIF), which would enable them to conduct fully confidential interviews with Grusch. “Every person watching this knows that we need to meet with Mr Grusch in a secure compartmentalized facility so that we can get fulsome answers that do not put him in jeopardy,” Rep Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said at the hearing.
