Who is Danny Brown? South Carolina police officer's TikTok moves go viral, Internet demands return of 'Live PD'
A police officer from South Carolina has become an Internet sensation after fulfilling a rather strange request from a citizen. Lt Danny Brown was patrolling the streets on Friday, October 30, night with his fellow officer when he was stopped by a bypasser who happened to be a fan of Brown's TikTok videos.
Who is Lt Danny Brown and why was he stopped?
Lt. Danny Brown has served with Richland County Sheriff’s Department for the past 20 years. He has also been an active user on TikTok for about a year now and believes it is “integral to community policing”, according to local television WIS.
On Friday, when Brown was on duty with Sr Deputy Addy Perez, a young man by the name of Tyquan Price, who happened to be a fan of Brown, stopped the officer and asked him if he would dance with him for a TikTok video. Brown and Price then got to dancing in front of the bright lights from the police vehicle while Perez captured it on his camera.
The video of the South Carolina officer dancing with a citizen was shared by Perez on his personal Twitter handle, which has since clocked over 21,800 views and counting. He captioned it "So Mr Price waves me down because he wanted to do a Tik Tock with @thundacat830 so I made sure I brought LT to him. @RCSD #communitypolicing #CAT #SmilesAllAround"

While many on Twitter were happy to watch Brown dance with Price, some noted that this should be used as an opportunity to bring back the American television program 'Live PD', which was stopped in May this year. The show follows police officers during their patrols and broadcasts select encounters live. One tweeted, "Miss you all so much. Live PD was the first time in years that I was excited for the weekend. Hope they bring you back!" Another added, "I miss y’all SO much!!! My Friday and Saturday nights will never be right again unless they bring back @OfficialLivePD"

Meanwhile, talking about the importance of social networking especially in unprecedented times like these, Brown said, “If we are going to reach this younger generation...especially in this Covid-19 environment we have to use social media."
"Simply getting out, talking with people, you can ride through these neighborhoods every day, 24 hours a day, if you don’t get out of your car and start face-to-face human contact that is the only way you are going to get these relationships going," he added.
And, when asked about his reaction when he was stopped by Price for a dance, Brown recalled saying,“Heck yea, let’s get out of the car, get away for the work and have fun for a few minutes."
