FOLLY BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA: A dream night for Aric Hutchinson was turned into a nightmare after he lost his newly-wed wife, Samantha Hutchison in a horrific accident that left him severely injured. Aric, 36, and Samantha, 34, were leaving their wedding reception in a golf cart with two friends when an alleged drunken driver, Jamie Komoroski, struck them at Folly Beach, South Carolina, on Friday, April 28.

Komoroski was allegedly traveling at 65mph in a 25mph zone when she hit the couple, causing their cart to roll several times. The impact of the crash killed Samantha on the scene and left Aric with several life-threatening injuries including a brain injury and multiple broken bones. The grieving mother said she was handed her son's wedding ring. 'It was the best day of her life'

Hutchinson grew up in the Ogden region and attended Bonneville High School in South Ogden before going on to play collegiate football for Snow Collegiate and Utah Tech. Aric dated Samantha for three years before they decided to tie knots. The final heart-breaking pictures of the couple showed them beaming as they were waved off by their guests with sparklers. Following the tragedy, Samantha’s sister, Mandi Jenkins, narrated the last hours of the wedding day. She said, “I’ve never seen the light in [Samantha] eyes shine as bright as that day, from the moment that day started, getting ready for her wedding at the house. It was the best day of her life," reports ABC 4 News.

"We were in our pajamas sitting on the balcony beside Bert's at our place where we're staying and started to hear the sirens. And the sirens kept going,” she continued. Talking about the tragedy, Samantha's mother Lisa Mille said, "I don't know what the distraction was, but she literally ran into my daughter going 65 miles an hour. Sammie and Aric were on the back of the golf cart and so she basically just whammed my child."
