PARIS, FRANCE: After winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis is eying for another historic win at the Paris Olympics 2024. Born to an American pole vaulter father and a Swedish long jumper mother, Mondo chose to represent Sweden, his mother's homeland, in international competitions. His achievements in the sport are astounding. At just 15, he won the under-18 title in 2015, and two years later, he broke the under-20 world record with a jump of 5.90 meters. He also holds the world record with an incredible jump of 6.24 meters.

His nickname 'Mondo' comes from his childhood when his godfather called him 'Mondo Man', as per Sportskeeda. The name stuck, and it suits him well, as 'Mondo' means 'world' in Italian—apt for someone who has dominated his sport globally. With the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024, fans eagerly await to see if Mondo will continue his record-breaking streak and add another gold to his collection.

When will Paris Olympics 2024 pole vault finals take place?

Mondo is among the 12 athletes in Men's pole vault final. He'll have to compete strongly against USA’s Sam Kendricks and the Philippines’ Ernest John Obiena to defend his Olympic title.

Men's pole vault final is scheduled to take place on August 5, at 1 pm ET.
