Who is Dean Browning? White ex-GOP candidate's 'Black gay guy' tweet sparks fury: ‘You deserve all the misery'
White former Congressional candidate Dean Browning who hails from Pennsylvania, is in hot waters over a highly controversial tweet. The politician claimed that he is a “black gay guy” in a tweet and immediately clarified after receiving backlash on social media that it was someone he was quoting and forgot to attribute the source of the message.
The tweet came after Browning lost this year’s Republican primary race to represent the state of Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District. He wrote in the November 10 tweet in response to a critic who praised former president Barack Obama, “I'm a black gay guy and I can personally say that Obama did nothing for me, my life only changed a little bit and it was for the worse. Everything is so much better under Trump though. I feel respected - which I never do when democrats are involved.”
Browning deleted the tweet after getting scathing attacks where people mentioned he is clearly not a Black man. He served an apology in a follow-up tweet, “Regarding the tweet that is going viral from my account — I was quoting a message that I received earlier this week from a follower. Sorry if the context was not clear. Trump received record minority votes & record LGBTQ votes. Many people won’t say it vocally, but do in private.”
Some Twitter users even said that they have found what they believe to be Browning's fake account. They allege that Browning has been posting as a gay Black man under the user name @DanPurdy322 on that account. The account's profile picture is an illustration rather than a real picture. It was created in October and has about 700 followers where it follows 150 accounts. As per reports, this account primarily follows many GOP figures that include President Donald Trump, vice-president Mike Pence, Florida Rep Matt Gaetz and Browning to name some. Browning also shared the link to this purported fake account tweeting, “Here is a message from Dan Purdy, who has decided to responded to the controversy. I wish the media would pay attention to the voter irregularities in the state of Pennsylvania as much as they have this Twitter story.” Until now it is not verified if Dan Purdy's account has a connection with Dean Browning.
