Who are the six prisoners who escaped from California's Merced County jail? Here's how you can identify them
The Police Department of California is now on the hunt for six men they say escaped from jail on Saturday, January 9 by scaling down its walls from the roof with homemade rope.
In a Facebook post, the Department said, "On January 10, 2021, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office Jail Staff determined that just before midnight, six inmates housed at the Merced County Downtown Jail were missing from their cell. A preliminary investigation has determined that the inmates were able to gain access to the roof of the facility and utilize a homemade rope to scale down the side of the jail. The Merced County Sheriff’s Office has formed a task force to track down and apprehend these fugitives."
The fugitives who escaped from the Merced County Sheriff’s Office Jail have been identified and described:
Fabian Cruz Roman
The 22-year-old was jailed in 2015, along with a teenage friend for killing rival gang members in 2014, in a Los Banos park. Roman pleaded no contest to second-degree murder with an enhancement of personal use of a firearm. The murder charge carries a sentence of 15 years to life in prison and the enhancement has a penalty of an additional 10 years, totaling 25 years to life in prison. He is a Hispanic male from Los Banos, California, he stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weights 145 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
Gabriel Francis Coronado
19-year-old Gabriel Francis Cornado stands 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighs 225 pounds. He was in jail for charges of attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, participation in a criminal street gang, felon in possession of a firearm and violation of probation, the sheriff's office said.
Andres Nunez Rodriguez Jr.
Andres Nunez Rodriguez Jr, a 21-year-old Hispanic male from Planada, California is charged with attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, participation in a criminal street gang and possession of a firearm. Rodriguez Jr. is 5 feet, 7 inches and 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Edgar Eduardo Ventura
Edgar Eduardo Ventura, a 22-year-old Hispanic male from Portland, Oregon, is charged with possession of a firearm, participation in a criminal street gang and violation of probation. Ventura is 5 feet, 11 inches and 129 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Jorge Barron
Jorge Barron is a 20-year-old Hispanic male from Atwater, California and is currently charged with violation of probation. Barron is 5 feet, 5 inches and 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Manuel Allen Leon
Manuel Allen Leon is a 21-year-old Hispanic male from Vallejo, he is 5’10” tall and weighs 165lbs, with black hair, brown eyes. Leon’s charges include assault with a firearm, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, evade peace officer — reckless driving, participation in a criminal street gang, and carrying a loaded firearm.
