'World of Dance' Season 4: Meet MDC 3, the first junior division level dancers to take home the $1M prize
MDC 3 created history by becoming not only the first junior division level dancers but also the first contemporary dance troupe to achieve the feat of winning 'World of Dance' championship. MDC 3 comprising of Madison “Madi” Smith, Diego Pasillas and Emma Mather, took home a million dollars after winning Season 4 of 'World of Dance'. But who exactly are these incredibly talented young dancers? Read on to know more about them.
MDC 3 was formed in Placentia, California, under the guidance of renowned dancer and choreographer Shannon Mather. Shannon, also happens to be MDC 3 group member, Emma's mother. Shannon runs a dance company called 'Mather Dance Company' in California. The dance company first opened its doors 10 years ago, and trains pre-professional dancers between the ages of 5-18. The dancers are trained in various dance forms like ballet, pointe, contemporary and hip-hop.
Madi was the first one to join the dance company at the tender age of seven, the other two members too have been with the dance company for many years. On the show, the trio revealed that they have been dancing together for a little over seven years. While Madi and Diego are 17 years old. Emma is 15. On their Instagram page, the trio revealed their ambitious future plans. Based on what they shared, it looks like winning 'World of Dance' will certainly act as a stepping stone for their future.
Madi shared that her goal in life is "to dance professionally in the industry [and/or] tour with a recording artist like Rihanna.” While Diego too wants to be a professional dancer and "go on a world tour with a big name recording artist." Emma's dream is to "dance on tour with a recording artist." If their performances on 'World of Dance' is anything to go by, then there is a very good chance that we might see these three talented dancers showing off their dance moves on a world tour pretty soon.
Ever since their first performance in the qualifiers round, MDC 3 captured the attention of the judges and fans alike with their unique ability to narrate a story through their dance. Time and again they have been praised by the judges for the perfect execution and how beautifully they convey their emotions with their body. We can't wait to see what these talented dancers go on to do after winning the coveted 'World of Dance' championship.
