Who are John Charpiot and David Harmon? Arizona inmates caught after breaking out of prison
On Thursday, two inmates who had escaped from an Arizona prison over the weekend had been captured after authorities received tips from the locals. John Charpiot and David Harmon had escaped from the prison in Florence and were spotted in a surveillance photo later at a business which they had tried to rob. The name of the business or the time at which the robbery was attempted was also not revealed by the authorities.
When the authorities had announced that the prisoners had escaped on Twitter, the Department of Public Safety had written, "On Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, fugitives David Harmon & John Charpiot attempted to rob a business in Florence. The attached image depicting the fugitives was taken from security footage. Both men have ongoing medical issues and may attempt to visit drug stores or pharmacies. (1/2)." They had also added, "Remember – if you see something, say something. Call 9-1-1 and then contact Silent Witness at 480-948-6377.(2/2) #AZTroopers #CourteousVigilance."

And on the day the two of them were arrested, the Coolidge Police Department announced on their official Facebook page and said, "This morning at 9:00 Coolidge Police Department received several calls from citizens in reference to the escaped prisoners. Two citizens reported that they had a view of who they believed were the outstanding prison fugitives. David T. Harmon and John B. Charpiot, inmates who escaped from the Arizona State Prison Complex in Florence Saturday, were captured and arrested by Coolidge Police and US Marshall’s Officers. They are in custody, awaiting transport back to the Department of Corrections. Thank you to all citizens who helped in the capture of these fugitives."
According to Fox News, it was revealed that the two prisoners had medical conditions that would have required them to visit drug stores and pharmacies. In the image that was provided by the authorities, one of the prisoners was seen bleeding from the head as well.
Before breaking out of prison, Charpiot was serving a 35-year sentence for molestation of a child and sexual abuse. He was convicted in 2011. Harmon, on the other hand, was sentenced in 2012 to 100 years in prison for kidnapping and second-degree burglary. According to media reports the two of them had escaped after stealing tools from a utility room and cutting through a fence. The authorities had hence allocated a $35,000 reward for each inmate for information that would have led to their capture. At this point, however, there has been no information about who had tipped and had been awarded the prize.
