Who are Chris Hemsworth's parents? Actor began acting to get them 'out of debt and pay for the house'
MADRID, SPAIN: Chris Hemsworth is a worldwide famous actor, popular as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is also known for his kind-hearted guy image, which is reportedly responsible for him to make to the world of movies and become a star.
The Australian hunk, who will be 40 soon, began working in films not because he wanted to be an actor but to get his parents out of debt. “We grew up with no money, very broke,” he said, as per express.co.uk during promotions of ‘Extraction 2’ in Madrid.
“I thought I could make some money here [out of acting] and get my parents out of debt and pay for the house and help friends and family,” he disclosed.
‘This is my one rule for life’
Chris continued, “I think it’s just staying true to yourself and being aware of the constant change,” before adding, "This is my one rule for life, and it will never change that.”
The ‘12 Strong’ star also reportedly told Men’s Health magazine that he wanted to leave the entertainment world after doing a small role in 2009’s ‘Star Trek’. “I was about to quit. I got more and more anxious, to the point where I couldn’t harness that energy,” he shared.
“I always wanted to act, and one of the first things I wanted to do when I got any money was pay my parents’ house off. I’d asked Dad once when he thought he’d pay it off and he said, ‘Honestly, probably never’. Most people are in that boat and I wanted to change that,” Chris added.
Who are Chris Hemsworth's parents?
Chris’ parents’ names are Craig Hemsworth and Leonie Hemsworth. As per reports, Craig worked as a social services counselor while Leonie is an educator.
The actor reportedly said about his upbringing, “My parents worked in child protection for many years… The influence of my parents and what I grew up with in that environment — that motivation was a huge inspiration. We have to put aside our own personal well-being to help others.”
‘They are so happy now’
Meanwhile, Chris’ younger brother Liam Hemsworth has also confirmed the debt story as he told The Independent in 2015, “He [his father] called my brother Chris back and said: ‘I don’t know how to feel.’”
“Since I left home I have had debts and I thought I’d be paying them off until I died and have this weight hanging over me, and now to have them completely cleared. They are so happy now and able to spend more time with us, I would love to be able to do something for my parents like that,” the 33-year-old added.
