Which ‘prominent congressman’ will come out for Biden? Amash says 'not me', declares he doesn't support Trump
Former Ohio governor and 2016 Republican presidential candidate John Kasich has sparked debate by showing his support to Joe Biden despite being a Republican. He's once again made news on social media for a statement he made during an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer. When the host asked Kasich if he can expect a "significant" number of Republicans to vote for Biden, the latter responded, "Prominent Congressman is gonna come out, and declare. I think he’s gonna do it tomorrow," according to reports.
BLITZER: "Do you actually foresee a significant number of Republicans voting for Biden in November?"

KASICH: "Well, you're gonna have a prominent Congressman is gonna come out, and declare, let him do it, I think he's gonna do it tomorrow."
This isn't the first time he has publicly spoken about voting for Biden. Previously, in a conversation with CNN host Don Lemon, Kasich, while talking about the need for a change of government, had stated, "It's time for a switch. And I think it's fine for -- look, I'm a Republican. I'm not going to change my party. I've been a conservative Republican. But I've had enough of this. I've had enough of the division and everything else, and not getting anything done."
Speaking in Biden's favor, he added further, "I'm not going to be for Trump and not lend my support to somebody, I -- it doesn't make sense for me this time around. And I actually believe, I've known Joe. I've known him for 30 years. I know the kind of guy he is." When Kasich teased the presence of a "prominent congressman", names of the different politicians started circulating on the internet. The majority of the speculated that the congressman Kasich was talking about was the former Republican-now-Libertarian Rep. Justin Amash. However, when Amash learned that his name for trending on Twitter, he came forward to provide clarification on the same.
He shared a series of tweets to establish that he wasn't supporting either Trump or Biden. When journalist Dave Weigel reacted to Kasich's statement by writing, "Either Hurd or Amash I’d guess (both retiring)", Amash responded saying, "It’s not me. Come on, Dave. How long have you known me? And I highly doubt it’s Hurd. He wouldn’t be my guess."

Amash provided further clarification with another tweet that read, "To be extra clear, I do not support Donald Trump. I’m voting for @Jorgensen4POTUS. She cares about tackling systemic problems in government. Trump is just a symptom. Biden won’t address the causes."

When Amash made his stance clear, Twitter users started taking other names as they tried to guess who was the prominent congressman that Kasich was referring to. Among many names, Sen. Mitt Romney and Rep. Will Hurd were mentioned the most. One Twitter user wrote, "Let me guess it will be Mitt Romney because so far he is the only one that has any balls to say anything against Trump". Another added, "Romney or Kinzinger or Amash are the only ones that have spoken against Trump in any way."

A significant number of people named Hurd as they gave various reasons as to why he might be the one to speak against Trump. One tweeted, "If it's a sitting congressman, my guess is Will Hurd. If it's a former congressman, I'm saying John Boehner."

Another added, "It should be @WillHurd~ he has the experience & awareness to comprehend what’s going on. If so, it’s about time! If not, shame on him."
