'Where's Maui's money?' Biden slammed after report claims WH released $75M for Palestinians hours before attack

WASHINGTON, DC: US President Joe Biden came under fire after reports emerged claiming that the White House had approved the release of $75 million aid to Palestine just hours before the attack on Israel.
The conflict between the two countries has been simmering for over a century but it took a brutal turn on Saturday, October 7 when Palestinian militant organization Hamas fired thousands of rockets on Israel.
In addition, dozens of Hamas fighters also broke through the strongly guarded border by air, land, and water, shocking the nation on a significant holiday.

On Monday, Israeli officials confirmed that over 700 Israeli civilians had been killed in the attacks and another 2,150 were gravely wounded.
Following the attacks, Israel formally declared war on Hamas, setting the stage for a major military operation in Gaza as fighting continued to rage on Israeli soil.

Why WH released a $75M aid for Palestinians?
As the war intensified, a report by Middle East Monitor claimed that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had approved the release of $75 million in crucial food assistance for Palestinians.
Blinken’s approval reportedly came after months of pressure from Democratic lawmakers and dozens of civil groups, who warned that doing otherwise would lead to a humanitarian catastrophe affecting more than one million Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
The aid had been held up by Republican Senators who are said to be seeking to use the funds as leverage for political concessions.
Since late July, Senator Jim Risch and Representative Michael McCaul have been blocking the State Department from transferring cash to the UN organization for Palestine refugees.
Risch spearheaded legislation in February with the support of 13 other Republicans to demand that the US stop funding UNRWA entirely unless Secretary of State Antony Blinken certifies every 180 days "that UNRWA meets strict accountability and transparency criteria."
