Detroit’s 2020 Ford Fireworks show had to be carried out differently this year, owing to the impact of the novel coronavirus. The event which was originally scheduled for June, took place on Monday, August 31. However, keeping in mind the social distancing norms, the entire event was televised, preventing people from attending the annual event in person.

The event was organized by the Parade Company, which ensured the public got to enjoy the most-cherished annual event of Detroit while seated in the comfort of their homes. Tony Michaels, the president and CEO of the Parade Company, previously told in a statement that the biggest change in the event was a different location, which remained undisclosed. He further added that “2020 Ford Fireworks is 25% larger than last year’s event” and encouraged people to watch it remotely on the channel Local 4 from 8 to 10 pm on August 31, according to Detroit local reports.

The event which was themed ‘We Are One Together’  was hosted by Devin Scillian and Kimberly Gill on the top of WDIV- Local 4’s downtown studios and was also available to stream online. The event saw an interesting line-up of performances by Caleb Carroll, Steffanie Christian, Ali MaManus and Eric Gutman.

Undeniably, the people of Detroit were eager to watch their beloved summer event, which is extremely similar to the Fourth of July celebrations. However, the majority of them just couldn’t get over fact that the entire event was being broadcast as they seemed desperate to learn about the secret location from where the fireworks were being set off.

Before the event could commence and even during its course, a significant number of people took to Twitter to enquire about the secret location which showcased the beautiful fireworks show. Ford Fireworks ended up gathering a lot of attention on Twitter as well, as the Internet users took it upon themselves to trace the location.

While one Twitter user asked, "So where was the secret #FordFireworks local??" Another tweeted, "Anyone figure out where the fireworks are being set off? #FordFireworks"

Meanwhile, another tweeted, "I want to know the secret location so bad. #FordFireworks"

However, soon after the event concluded, The Detroit News disclosed the secret location in their latest reports. The reports revealed that the entire firework show took place at the Lake St.Clair Metropark. It further stated that nearly a hundred onlookers gathered around the park in their cars, bikes, and lawn chairs to enjoy the spectacular view as the area was closed to the public.

Those who couldn't watch the show in person, yet had a good time watching it from their home, thanked the Parade Company and the rest of the organizers for putting up a great show. "The Ford Fireworks are a beautiful celebration of the friendship of our communities and our countries. They are spectacularly beautiful. This year they are coming from an undisclosed location to avoid the huge crowds that usually line both sides of the Detroit River to watch them" read a tweet.
