Where is Tulsi Gabbard now? Here's how she 'destroyed' Kamala Harris during 2019 Democratic presidential debate

Tulsi Gabbard, Hawaii Army National Gaurd and the US Representative for Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district, would have become the first female Hindu president in the history of America and the youngest person to ever hold the office had she won in the 2020 presidential elections. She was a candidate for the Democratic nomination in the upcoming elections, who dropped out in March 2019 and continued endorsing former vice president Joe Biden.

Gabbard had gained popularity within the Democratic Party when she served as vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 election cycle. In October 2018, it was reported that Gabbard was considering the "2020 presidential bid". She confirmed the news during her interview with ‘Hardball with Chris Matthews’ on MSNBC in December 2018 and said that she was “seriously considering” running for president.

She formally launched her campaign on January 24, 2019, through a video on her website. However, Gabbard’s campaign was jeopardized by a story published by NBC News only two hours before her campaign, asserting that Gabbard was supported by the "Russian propaganda machine". The NBC report stated, "Since Gabbard announced her intention to run on January 11, there have been at least 20 Gabbard stories on three major Moscow-based English-language websites affiliated with or supportive of the Russian government: RT, the Russian-owned TV outlet; Sputnik News, a radio outlet; and Russia Insider, a blog that experts say closely follows the Kremlin line. The CIA has called RT and Sputnik part of 'Russia's state-run propaganda machine'."

She announced the end of her campaign on March 19, 2020, due to low placement in national polls and weak finish in subsequent election contests. Gabbard also couldn’t participate in the recent series of Democratic Committee sponsored debates as she failed to meet the thresholds.

However, Gabbard went on to garner a lot of attention on social media platforms following the 2019 Democratic primary debates. And to date, people remember the moment she accused Kamala Harris on camera of prosecution of marijuana crimes, hinting that the senator herself used it. Gabbard also criticized Harris for holding innocent people in death row. On August 11, after Biden announced Harris as his running mate in the 2020 presidential elections, people took to Twitter to dig up the video from the primary debate, where Gabbard, according to the internet users, “destroyed” Harris.

One wrote, "In light of recent news, let us remember the moment that Tulsi Gabbard completely destroyed Sen. Kamala Harris’ political career." Another added, "And no one has been able to successfully defend kamala, with all these protests going around due to police brutality do people really want a police officer who has laughed about putting multiple people in jail for Marijuana abuse as vice president."

Meanwhile, a few who came forward to support Harris were seen asking where Gabbard was, while pointing at her political career. “Well, tulsi did get voted out of her political position, so there’s that to consider...." tweeted one.

Another internet user opined, “Tulsi is out of a job at the end of the year and Kamala is still a senator, and now she’s on the 2020 ticket. 'Destroyed her political career' only applies to one of these women, and it isn’t Kamala.”
