Selena may have been the voice and the face that drew fans in, but the talent that went into producing many of her hit songs wasn't just hers alone. A big factor in making Selena the star that she was, was her brother AB Quintanilla - the creative force behind many of Selena's hits including 'Como la Flor' and 'Amor Prohibido'. AB was also the one who brought Chris Perez, Selena's husband, into her life.

In the decades since Selena's death, Quintanilla has garnered eight Latin Grammy nominations and one win. He has also garnered eight Latin Billboard music awards and one win. But while these are impressive figures, other numbers in AB's life, particularly personal, have been the subject of much scrutiny.

'Selena: The Series': Jennifer Lopez or Christian Serratos, who played the Queen of Tejano music better?

In 'Selena: The Series', we see AB, played by Gabriel Chavarria, marrying Evangelina Almeida. The couple married in 1998 and had two children, son Svani and their daughter Martika, before they divorced in 2000. However, since then, AB has been married four more times and is the father of eight children. After his marriage to Almeida, AB married actress Heather Grein in 2002 and had two sons with her during their two-year marriage. Their split seems to be relatively amicable since Grein appears to be in touch with the Quintanillas. AB's third marriage was with Brenda Ramirez, with whom he had two more sons and two daughters.

From 2011 to 2016, AB was married to Rikkie Leigh Robinson, a model. However they split up after what Robinson called an ugly divorce. This hasn't been the only ugly turn in Quintanilla's personal life however. In August 2017, Quintanilla was on the Texas Top 10 Most Wanted list and was reportedly wanted for contempt of court and nonpayment of child support. Quintanilla was even briefly jailed for the same. While it was unclear who Quintanilla owed the money to, he reportedly paid $87,000 in back child support, plus attorney fees and medical expenses. His controversial personal life hasn't stopped AB from trying to get it right again. In September 2019, he wed Anjelah Orellano, and for the moment at least it seemed that fourth time was the charm for him.

AB still remains extremely close to his family and works to ensure that his sister's legacy is truly honoured. To find out more about Quintanilla, you can catch part two of 'Selena: The Series' premiering on May 4 on Netflix.
