Where is 'Alaska Daily' filmed?

Episodes 1 and 2 provide a look at some picturesque locations and it's safe to say, they also show the rich heritage of Anchorage

'Alaska Daily' gives the viewers a look at some picturesque locations and safe to say, much of it also shows the rich heritage of Anchorage. The second episode sees a moose make an appearance much to Eileen Fitzgerald's (Hilary Swank) amusement and fear, adding to how the series just lends more authenticity.

The second episode sees Eileen and Roz (Grace Dove) deep-dive further into Gloria Nanmac's death where they finally figure out where Toby Crenshaw, the last person to have seen her alive works. Parallelly, the episode focuses on another reporting assignment where Claire Muncy (Meredith Holz) investigates the case of an age-old diner called Rita's being shut down and having a Big Burger joint coming up.

Where is 'Alaska Daily' filmed?

Much of the production for the series took place in and around Vancouver, British Columbia. Additional filming was done in Anchorage. According to the  Anchorage Daily News, some scenes for the pilot episode were shot in Anchorage last fall, and a bit of it was shot this August. It also added that "Alaskans will recognize some locations in different episodes, including the Hotel Captain Cook, the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, and the Lake Hood Seaplane Base."

The official synopsis of the series reads, "From the mind of Tom McCarthy (Spotlight), Alaska Daily stars Hilary Swank as Eileen Fitzgerald, a fiercely talented and award-winning investigative journalist who leaves her high-profile New York life behind after a fall from grace to join a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption. Tom McCarthy is the creator and executive producer. Hilary Swank, Melissa Wells, Bert Salke, Kyle Hopkins (Anchorage Daily News), Ryan Binkley (Anchorage Daily News), and Peter Elkoff, who will also serve as showrunner, are executive producers on the series. The pilot episode is written and directed by Tom McCarthy."

'Alaska Daily' airs on Thursdays at 10 pm ET on ABC.
