NORTH PORT, FLORIDA: Brian Laundrie's father, Chris Laundrie, has kept a very low profile in his son's high-profile case and eventual death. Laundrie has spent months hiding out in his house in North Port, Florida, ever since the case came under public scrutiny.

However, The Sun recently revealed that Laundrie's father was seen outside his house on February 15 - for the first time after the Petito family filed a lawsuit against Chris and Roberta Laundrie, alleging they knew their son Brian had killed Gabby but did nothing to report it.

Where are Brian Laundrie's parents now?

According to the pictures obtained by The Sun, Chris Laundrie was spotted in North Port, Florida, where he and Roberta reside, sporting a tan baseball cap, a green T-shirt, and blue shorts. Chris didn't appear to be paying much attention when he gathered the mail outside his home, performed chores, and then stopped at Tire Choice & Total Car Care in North Port.

Parents' role in the Gabby Petito investigation

In a notebook excerpt, Brian confessed to killing Gabby Petito. It was earlier reported that Laundrie said Gabby had a wound and would experience discomfort upon waking. He claimed that she asked him to "end her life, mercifully," so he did. He reportedly wrote, “She would wake in pain, start her whole painful cycle again, while furious that I was the one waking her. She wouldn’t let me try to cross the creek, thought like me that the fire would go out in her sleep, and she’d freeze.”

Ironically, Chris was the one who discovered the notebook while conducting a thorough search for his son. He discovered a white plastic bag holding some of his son's belongings in an area of shrubs adjacent to a trail while aiding in the search. The new pictures come after the Petito family filed a lawsuit against Chris and Roberta Laundrie for allegedly concealing details of their daughter's death. The FBI last week eventually made public photographs of the journal's contents after months of investigation. It revealed a lot of unpleasant facts about Brian's thoughts and Gabby's last moments. The parent's attorney for Gabby, Pat Reilly, pursued Steven Bertolino, a lawyer for the Laundrie family claiming that Bertolino released some parts of the letter while holding back others.

According to Daily Mail, he alleged, “I find it ironic that Mr. Bertolino says he was, in full transparency, releasing this. Well, someone should ask him why he doesn’t release the entire notebook. But more importantly, ask him why he doesn’t release Roberta Laundrie’s letter to her son. There are some pretty extreme things she said in there that, without having the letter here to quote it, I don’t want to say; but I will tell you that there are some pretty extreme things that were contained within that letter.”
