'What We Do in the Shadows' Season 2 Episode 9: Nadja will obsess over witches as Nandor and Laszlo get kidnapped

With the Nandor-Guillermo arc tied up neatly for now, will the comedy series manage to be as enjoyable?

Season 2 Episode 8 of FX’s vampire mockumentary series ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ neatly tied up an arc that has been central to the plot for some time now. In ‘Collaboration’, Nandor (Kayvan Novak) and his familiar Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) briefly parted and then were united again.

Guillermo’s increasing dissatisfaction with Nandor’s lack of follow-through on his promise to turn him into a vampire was creating a rift between the master and the servant. But the uncharacteristically wholesome episode managed to reconcile that dispute.

So, with only two episodes remaining in Season 2, what can we expect from ‘What We Do in the Shadow’, especially in terms of serialized stories? There is obviously still the question of Guillermo being a natural vampire-slayer (he’s the descendant of Van Helsing), and how the household would react to this information. It is, however, unlikely that Season 2 will touch upon that. Especially now that Season 3 has been greenlit, that might be saved for the season to come.

In that case, it’s more than likely that the remaining two episodes will be unrelated shenanigans of the four vampires and their servant.

In Episode 9, ‘Witches’, per IMDb, Nandor and Laszlo will be abducted by a coven of witches. The others then venture to Brooklyn to rescue them.

The very short promo for the show doesn’t even reveal as much as the synopsis. The promo begins with Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) reacting to a short-circuit by getting suddenly anxious about witches. Nandor explains to the audience, “She blames everything on witches,” with an exasperated sigh.

You can check out the promo here.

She then goes to the front yard, smelling leaves and calling garden variety dirt “witch dust”. Clearly, Nadja does not like witches.

‘What We Do in the Shadows’, throughout the second season, has maintained a fine balance between a serialized plot and random adventures. That has obviously made the season more enjoyable than the first, even though Season 1 was hilarious on its own. With a plotline neatly tied up now, will this season’s last couple of episodes be as good? Only time will tell.

New episodes of ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ Season 2 air on FX every Wednesday at 10 pm ET/PT.
