Contains spoilers for 'Clipped'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hulu's 'Clipped' is gearing up for its finale next Tuesday, i.e. July 2, 2024. The series showcases how a leaked audio tape caused the downfall of former Clippers owner Donald Sterling (played by Ed O'Neill).
In Episode 5 of 'Clipped', the stakes were high for Donald Sterling (Ed O'Neill) as he faced intense backlash for his racist comments. The NBA responded with a press conference, announcing a lifetime ban for Sterling and imposing a $2.5 million fine.
Fans of the show are anticipating an explosive finale, showcasing Sterling's endgame to save his team and reputation.
Without giving out many hints, Hulu writes in its official synopsis for 'Clipped' Episode 6, "Donald isn't going to give it up that easy."
But here's everything you can expect in the finale episode:
Donald Sterling's interview on CNN with Aderson Cooper
So far in the series, Donald Sterling hasn't made any official statement after his audio tape was released by TMZ. In the finale episode, we hope to revisit his controversial interview on CNN with Anderson Cooper.
On May 11, 2014, he appeared on CNN to apologize for his remarks in the tape. He added he was "not a racist" and that V Stiviano (Cleopatra Coleman) "baited" him into making those awful comments.
However, his attempt at cleansing his image backfired as he ended up making derogatory remarks against Magic Johnson, questioning his character and his battle against HIV.
This interview was his last chance at redemption and he messed it up royally. We hope to see this moment in the finale episode of 'Clipped'.
Donald Sterling's lawsuit against the NBA
When Shelly Sterling (played by Jacki Weaver) approached Donald Sterling regarding the sale of the team in Episode 5, he easily signed the papers authorizing her to negotiate the sale of the team.
In reality, when Shelly reached a deal for the sale, Sterling stepped up claiming that he didn't authorize his wife. He opposed the sale and ended up suing the NBA for $1 billion, alleging that the NBA and others conspired to remove him as owner of the Clippers, as reported by ESPN.
Sale of LA Clippers
'Clipped' Episode 6 will showcase how Donald Sterling finally lost his team. Shelly Sterling managed to sell 100% of Clippers to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for $2 billion.
The episode will revisit how Shelly navigated through the challenges to finalize the deal, including aggressive resistance from her husband.
Shelly Sterling's legal battle against V Stiviano
In the finale, we also hope to see a verdict on Shelly Sterling's lawsuit against V Stiviano.
Very early in the series, Shelly sued Stiviano for $2.5 million alleging that she honey-trapped her husband into buying her a duplex among other things from the Sterling family's trust fund.
