What is the schedule for the World Athletics Championship 2023? Mega athletics extravaganza will take place in Budapest

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY: The nineteenth edition of the World's Athletic Championship is scheduled to take place from 19 to 27 August this year at the National Athletics Centre, in Budapest, Hungary. The nation's capital previously expressed an interest to host the 2007 World Championships but later withdrew and it was eventually held in Osaka. The championships will be held in the National Athletics Centre in Budapest which was specifically designed and built for the event and has a capacity of an impressive 36,000 spectators.

Famous and talented athletes from different parts of the world will participate in the championship which will comprise various sports events such as a number of track and road events such as hurdles, races, and marathons; field events such as high jump, long jump, shot put, javelin throw, etc and combined events like heptathlon and decathlon. With the prestigious athletic extravaganza just around the corner, let us have a look at when the finals of the events will take place. 

What finals are going to take place on the first day?

On the very first day of the athletic championships, ie, on August 19, the finals of the 20m Race Walk for the males will take place in the morning session at around 8.50 am. On the very same day, finals of the shot put for the males will happen at 8.35 pm followed by the 10,000m race final for women and the 4 x 400m relay final at 8.55 pm and 9.47 pm respectively. 

Event finals on the second day

On August 20, which is the second day of the championships, the 20km Race Walk for the women will happen at 7.15 am. The long jump final for women will take place at 4.55 pm alongside the finals of hammer throw (male), 800m heptathlon (female), 10,000m race(male), and 100m race (male) at 5.50 pm, 6.00 pm, 6.25 pm and 7.10 pm respectively. 

Event finals on the third day

No finals will take place on the morning of the third day of the championships. In the evening, viewers can see the finals of the high jump (male) at 7.55 pm, discus throw (female) at 8.20 pm, 110 m hurdles (male) at 9.40 pm, and 100m (female) at 9.50 pm. 

Event finals on the fourth day

Just like the third day, there will be no final events on the fourth day. The evening will mark the finals of the high jump (male) at 7.55 pm, discus throw(female) at 8.20 pm, the 1500m race (female) at 9.30 pm, and 3000m SC (male) at 9.42 pm. 

Event finals on the fifth day

While there are no event finals in the morning, the evening session will see the finals of pole vault (female) at 7.30 pm, 1500m race (male) final at 9.15 pm, 400m (male) at 9.35 pm, and 400m hurdles (female) at 9.50 pm. 

What finals will take place on the sixth day?

On the sixth day, the morning session will mark the final 35km race walk for both males and females at 7 am. In the evening, the long jump final (male) will take place at 7.30 pm followed by the finals of hammer throw (female) at 8.15 pm, 100m hurdles (female) at 9.25 pm, 400m (male) at 9.35 pm and 400m hurdles (female) at 9.50 pm. 

Final events on the seventh day

With no finals taking place in the morning, the evening session will witness the finals of the triple jump (female) at 7.35 pm, javelin throw (female) at 8.20 pm, 200 m (female) at 9.40 pm, and 200m (male) at 9.50 pm. 

Final events on the eighth day

The morning of the eighth day of the championship will mark the final of the marathon (female) at 7 pm. In the evening, finals of seven events take place which include, pole vault (male) at 7.25 pm, shot put (female) at 8.15 pm, 800m (male) at 8.30 pm, 5000m (female) at 8.50 pm, 1500m decathlon (male) at 9.25 pm, 4 x 100m relay for both male and female at 9.40 and 9.50 pm respectively. 

Event finals on the final day

The final of the marathon (male) is set to take place on the morning of the final day at 7 am. In the evening, the finals of the seven events will happen. It includes high jump (female) at 8.05 pm, 5000 m (male) at 8.10 pm, javelin throw (male) at 8.20 pm, 3000m SC (female) at 9.10 pm, 4 x 400m relay for both male and female at 9.37 pm and 9.47 pm respectively.
