What is NSC 131? Neo-Nazi group protests in front of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey's home
ARLINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS: NSC-131, or Nationalist Social Club - 131 is an American neo-Nazi group that protested in front of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healy’s home at Arlington on Sunday, October 15.
The group NSC-131, who bears the number 131 as ‘ACA’ or Anti-Communist Action, gathered in front of Healy’s home and chanted "New England is ours, the rest must go.”
The protest chant is thought to be a reference to the issue of migrant arrival in Massachusetts. The demonstration by the group left the Healey's neighbors afraid.
Per CBS News, the group ultimately left Arlington, and no arrests had been made.
Maura Healey's neighbors recount ‘scary’ neo-Nazi protest
One of the residents of the neighborhood, HK said to the news outlet, "It was scary, especially this neighborhood. There's a lot of kids, a lot of families and it's a good community. So just seeing something like that and being able to take place right in our front lawn, I mean, just very scary. Like, I don't understand what's really going on.”
HK further castigated the protest that was carried outside the governor’s home and said, "All that stuff, they can do it somewhere else, don't be bringing it to people's front lawn and trying to intimidate people. Because that's not how you do things.”
HK concluded by saying, "We're all equal and everyone should be respecting each other and loving on each other instead of throwing hate on this world because there is hate, there's no more love but God taught us to love.”
Neo-Nazi group NSC-131 keen on recruiting 'White-only males'
The NSC-131, which was founded by Chris Hood in 2019, has been in a recruitment spree throughout Massachusetts this October.
They have spread their flyers and pamphlets in various neighborhoods of New England including New Bedford and Plymouth.
On Wednesday, October 11, residents of the New Bedford area woke up to flyers of the group in their porches and backyards.
The flyers which were presumably distributed before sunrise advertised the organization as a “pro-white street-oriented fraternity” and solicited White-only male members for recruitment.
The message on the flyers read, “If you are a man of European descent in the New England area that wishes to see a better future for your people, contact us.”
New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell stated in a statement that he condemned the incident and reported it to the FBI, per New Bedford Light.
“The messages in these materials have no place in New Bedford, and I stand with all those in our City in categorically condemning the attempt to enlist support for them.”
The Mayor added, “The City promptly brought this incident to the attention of the FBI and remains in communication with the Bureau.”
He further said that “similar leaflets have been discovered elsewhere in Massachusetts recently, and we do not have reason to believe that those responsible have any particular connection to New Bedford. Wherever they are from, they are not welcome in our City.”
Helena DaSilva Hughes of New Bedford’s Immigrant Assistance Center said, “This is so sad that hate groups are in our backyard,” before adding, “It’s scary.”
