According to a contract obtained by KREM 2 through a public records request with Kootenai County, Tayloy will be paid $200 per hour during her typical work week. A deal was made between Kootenai and Latah County about the services of a defense attorney for the suspect. Latah County agreed to pay Kootenai County $200 per hour for a 40-hour work week as part of that deal.

Latah County will pay the lawyer directly for any overtime put in beyond those times. The agreement also specifies Taylor's and her group's pay. Kootenai County will get $200 per hour during the typical 40-hour work week from Latah County. Taylor will be paid directly $200 per hour by Latah County if she works any additional hours. During the usual 40-hour workweek, the second attorney on this case will be compensated at a rate of $180 per hour. The same procedure will apply to this lawyer's compensation as it did to Taylor's.

Additionally, Latah County has consented to pay the attorneys' travel, housing and food expenses. In addition, Taylor's investigators will receive $45 in pay per hour. A copy of the agreement was reportedly authorized by the Latah County Commissioners on February 7 and by Kootenai County on February 12. However, the contract became effective on December 30, 2022.
