What is Al Roker’s net worth?

Roker’s net worth as of 2023, according to Celebrity Net Worth, is a whopping $70M. He amassed this incredible salary after working on TV for more than 40 years. Roker has also written 12 books.

Al Roker became a weatherman thanks to David Letterman

Comedian David Letterman played a pivotal role in catapulting Roker into the spotlight during his early days as a weatherman at WNBC.

Letterman frequently injected humor into Roker's forecasts, engaging in playful banter on-air. The exposure gained from these interactions resonated nationally.

In a memorable turn of events, Letterman invited Roker to partake in an elevator race on an episode of ‘Late Night with David Letterman’, further increasing Roker's visibility.

This increased visibility directly contributed to Roker's selection as the weathercaster for the weekend edition of ‘Today’, known as ‘Weekend Today’. Roker's rise to stardom continued in 1995 when he launched his own weekend talk show, ‘The Al Roker Show’, on CNBC.

As Willard Scott prepared to retire in 1996, Roker emerged as the natural successor to the weather anchor's position on ‘Today’.
