LONDON, ENGLANDL Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has talked about Queen Elizabeth II's beloved corgis' in a new interview. The Queen owned over 30 corgis during the decades she was the monarch, and had a special love for the breed. She received two dogs - Muick and Sandy, from her son Prince Andrew, Duke of York and his ex-wife Sarah.

In an interview with Hello magazine, Sarah said she has been taking care of the two dogs and have been "spoiling" them since Elizabeth's demise last year. Ferguson told the magazine, "The corgis are very nice and very polite and well-trained. I am their favorite but everybody always says it's just because I feed them gravy bones. I love everything about them and I spoil them the most."

In another interview with The People, Ferguson talked about the dogs and said, “They are national icons, so every time they run chasing a squirrel, I panic. But they’re total joys, and I always think that when they bark at nothing, and there’s no squirrels in sight, I believe it’s because the Queen is passing by."

In 2021, during the lockdown, Prince Andrew gifted Queen two puppies - one dorgi and one corgi. The dorgi was named after Queen's uncle Fergus who died in First World War, and the corgi was named Muick, after Loch Muick on the Balmoral estate. Fergus died just a few weeks after Prince Philip's death on April 9, 2021. The dog was later replaced by a corgi puppy named Sandy. Sandy was gifted to the Queen on her 95th birthday by Prince Andrew and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Before the Queen's death last year, royal biographer Ingrid Seward talked about her love for animals. She told Newsweek, "She loves animals and she absolutely adores dogs. She always has done, they were her first love and they will be her last." Author Penny Junor said, "I imagine the dogs would be looked after by the family, probably Andrew [as] he's the one that gave them to her, they're quite young, the corgi and the dorgi." Apart from the 30 corgis and other pets, the late monarch also owned more than 100 horses at the time of her death
