LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: When it comes to authors whose stories have been adapted for the big screen, Stephen King often dwells at the top. 'The Shining', 'Carrie', 'Children of the Corn', etc., are some examples of movies that have been adapted from the stories written by the horror icon. 'The Boogeyman' will be one such scary ride that is going to be released in theaters. The movie has been directed by Rob Savage and written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods who also wrote the story for 'A Quiet Place'.

A number of Stephen King's stories have hit the theaters in 2022 such as 'Salem's Lot' and 'Firestarter'. From the studios of Disney, 'The Boogeyman' is a Stephen King adaptation, based on a novel of the same name from King's 1978 collection titled 'Night Shift'. Originally planned to be released on Hulu, 'The Boogeyman' will now have a theatrical release. This might be a blessing in disguise as a theatrical release means the creators are looking to aim at a larger section of the audience. 

What is the plot of 'The Boogeyman'?

'The Boogeyman' derives its plot from a story published by Stephen King of the same name in 1973. Deadline published the official synopsis of the movie which reads, "Still reeling from the tragic death of their mother, a teenage girl and her little brother find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late."

Who stars in 'The Boogeyman'?

The cast list for 'The Boogeyman' includes Chris Messina as Will Harper, David Dastmalchian as LesterSophie Thatcher as Sadie Harper, Vivien Lyra Blair as Sawyer Harper, Madison Hsu, Marin Ireland, LisaGay Hamilton as Dr Weller, and Daniel Hagen as the creature. Rob Savage, who had a hit titled 'Host' during the pandemic, is directing the movie.

What is the buzz around 'The Boogeyman'?

'The Boogeyman' was set for a release on a streaming service, but after successful demo screenings of the movie, and banking on the past successes of films such as 'Barbarina and Smile', Disney decided to go the old way of a theatrical release.
