'Wrestling 4 Women's Charity', an upcoming charity wrestling show scheduled to be held on Saturday, March 20, in Jackson, Tennessee, is now canceled due to its association with disgraced wrestling star Joey Ryan. The event became the center of controversy as participant wrestlers started pulling out of the show. The row started after fans spotted Ryan on the event posters.

Later, it was also discovered that the event is being organized by 'Bar Wrestling', the company owned by Ryan, who has several sexual misconduct allegations against him. President of All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan, firmly declared that his AEW talent will not attend the event if Ryan is there, but he would still "gladly donate" to the charity. AEW wrestler Big Swole aka Swolenko also pointed out that this show by Ryan was canceled a few years ago as well when he tried to organize it in North Carolina.

In a now-deleted tweet, the Wrestling 4 Women's Charity organizer's team stated an apology for "riling everyone up". It had reportedly advertised Ryan for the upcoming show. However, they added that everyone who booked was aware of all the details "including going through AEW's 3rd party booking system for talent". The account's bio falsely listed the show as airing on FITE, which confirmed this is not true.

Bar Wrestling and Joey Ryan's net worth?

"Get Drunk, Watch Wrestling," reads the tagline of Bar Wrestling — a professional wrestling organization based in Los Angeles. The company is owned and promoted by Joseph Ryan Meehan aka Joey Ryan of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) fame.

Ryan started the company in 2017 to promote young, talented wrestlers. However, the company closed down within three years after sexual harassment allegations surfaced against Ryan in 2020. At present, Bar Wrestling only has an online presence with all their wrestling content from three years available on YouTube and their website. Many of the sexual misconduct complaints against Ryan are incidents that took place at the Bar Wrestling venue in Bootleg Theater, where Ryan reportedly harassed women wrestlers.

If net worth estimates are to be believed, Ryan's fortune ranges between $107,000 to $645,000.

What are the allegations against Joey Ryan?

In June 2020, as part of the #SpeakingOut movement, several women came forward and accused Ryan of traumatic experiences of sexual assault and harassment. Ryan soon tweeted a detailed statement where he spoke about how he wants to make wrestling a safe space for everyone.

In the statement, he said, "After speaking with my attorney, I have been advised not to respond to any specific allegations at this time. And the truth of the matter is, I do not want to spend time dissecting which parts of stories are true, which parts are different from what I remember and which things being said are outright false. It is important for me to use this platform to take responsibility and not attempt to minimize the feelings of anyone that was hurt by me in order to save face."

He added, "And I will acknowledge that it was possible that I pursued people that I thought were interested in me and invaded their personal space and made them feel uncomfortable in the process."

Ryan published this statement on Twitter before shutting down his profile. Soon after, 15 more women accused Ryan of sexual misconduct, which included wrestlers such as Vanessa Kraven, Jetta, Rok-C, announcers, workers at Bar Wrestling and Ryan's fans. Two days later, on June 23, 2020, Impact Wrestling officially terminated their contract with Ryan while Bootleg Theater backed out as the venue for Ryan's Bar Wrestling. In a video posted in July 2020, Ryan denied all the accusations against him and later filed a multi-million dollar defamation lawsuit against his accusers.

'He doesn’t care about consent'

Twitterati is furious at Ryan for reportedly trying to secretly trick wrestlers into participating in a charity event organized by him. "Just as I suspected, gang. This wasn't a women's charity wrestling show. It was Joey Ryan, all along," one user posted this hilarious meme. "The fact that Joey Ryan is STILL trying to insert himself into the wrestling world after everyone has made it clear they don’t want him there is proof he doesn’t care about consent," wrote another user.

"Little Joey Ryan is apparently trying to worm his way back into wrestling by appearing on and promoting a show for women's charity. The dirtbag certainly has no shame. Fuck him and his show. Support someone he is suing for telling the truth instead!" tweeted a wrestling fan.

"Do not let jokes and memes about Joey Ryan being a serial sexual predator who should be in jail distract you from the fact that Joey Ryan is a serial sexual predator who should be in jail," said one user, while another tweeted, "Also: Joey Ryan has 18 sexual assault/misconduct allegations against him. EIGHTEEN. If you bought tickets for this “wrestling show” and if you still believe him, give your head a wobble. Fuck Joey Ryan. #SpeakingOut."
