Spoilers for 'Westworld' Season 3 Episode 6 'Decoherence'

With the season finale right around the corner, 'Westworld' is setting up all its pieces for the endgame. Last week, Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) kickstarted the apocalypse by revealing to the world just what the future had in store for them if they kept placing their faith in the system. This week, as the revolution officially begins, all of this season's power players get to where they need to be to bring everything crashing down.

Unlike some other 'Westworld' episodes, nothing stands out about 'Decoherence'; it's very much an episode that bridges its past to its future. The episode develops some of its longer running threads, rewarding those who have been following them, making this feel like Part 1 of a three-part series finale. It's perhaps the best way to do a final act in this era of blockbuster television series and it's big-budget TV done right.

Now that the board's been set up and Dolores has taken her first major move, Engerraund Serac (Vincent Cassel) makes his, finally taking control of Delos and setting his plan into action almost immediately. In a last-minute gambit, Dolores-as-Charlotte-Hale tried to steal Delos' data but Serac is on to her and it's all-out war. In the meanwhile, while the Man in Black (Ed Harris) was thought to have been removed from the board, a confrontation with (and the subsequent massacre of) his former selves brings him back into play in a rather major way.

There are a few scenes in this episode that really stand out. Ed Harris' therapy session with his younger selves - including the wonderful return of Jimmi Simpson - was excellently done. The show was not afraid to slip in a little humor at the ridiculousness of the situation, but that doesn't stop it from being resolved in the most William way possible - with near delusional justifications for bloodshed.

Also standing out was the action scenes with Checko.

The next episode of 'Westworld' airs April 26, on HBO.
